notes

In Northern Africa there are goats that leap into trees to eat leaves...when they're very lucky, they catch a fruit. This true fact is incredible...but not as incredible as Goats in Trees' soulful, intelligent rock.

Goats in Trees draws from musical roots that include rock, folk, soul, jazz and blues. All these elements are woven together to form a distinct sound. You'll feel like you're hearing music that's new, and also comfortable as a favorite sweater.

A song oriented, groovin' four piece band, Goats in Trees weaves together beautiful vocal harmonies, soulful arrangements and classic sounding melodies. The "flavors" on this CD range from Stonesy, groove oriented rock to back porch blues, from atmospheric pop to 70's soul - Goats in Trees is a band that wears a lot of hats while constantly maintaining their distinct, signature "soul-pop" sound.

Goats in Trees is a Brooklyn-based band featuring Monica Cohen (lead vocals, guitar), Jason Crigler (vocals, guitar), Jeff Hill (bass), and John Mettam (drums).

So check out Goats in Trees and catch a fruit!

  • Excellent - "Dead of Winter" is a classic!
    author: Paul Payton

I heard "Dead of Winter" on the car radio for the first time, and had to pull over and call the station to find out who it was! This song is a potential perenniel; "Monkey In The Middle" and "On Your Wedding Day" will also leap out at you - this album has many exceptional tracks. It lived in the CD player for the first 6 months we owned it. Lobby these folks to bring it back into print!
