Guitar-based, ear catching, low female vocal with upbeat, singable, positive-flavored, knock-your-socks-off, easy-to-remember songs for parents and grandparents to share with and teach kids and grandkids from ages birth to 14 years. TRULY a "family" CD.

notes

There are a LOT of adults walking around Houston Texas who will tell you their introduction to music , the one that started their lifelong love of music, began when they were five years old in the kindergarten classroom of songstress Glynace Eastham. Now known as simply "GLYNACE" to kids all over, Mrs. Eastham is a Pied Piper with a following that includes music lovers of all ages. Even if you don't think you like family/children's music, just spend a few minutes listening to her guitar-accompanied original sing-along songs. Grown men in Florida and Massachusetts (and perhaps elsewhere!) are WORKING OUT to the upbeat songs and “cooling down” to the lullabye at the end! We are told that you might not be able to fall asleep the first night you listen, because the incredibly catchy tunes will keep running through your head!!
Glynace Eastham
has her roots in Louisiana, but considers herself to be a “dual citizen” now of both TEXAS AND Louisiana. She was a kindergarten and Pre-K teacher in both public and private schools for over 25 years prior to her early retirement in 2004. She had an early intro to music from her guitar/ harmonica/ piano-playing grand-mother, and she picked up a guitar herself at 12 and the music progressed! While still in high school, she began her musical career as a vocalist in an award-winning, five-member folk group “The Sassafras Roots.”
Her original folk/Americana music is strongly influenced by Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Gordon Lightfoot, Peter, Paul, and Mary, Marty Robbins, Hank Williams, The Kingston Trio, Dolly, John Denver, and Townes VanZandt; and her children's music is reminicent of tradtional American folk, nursery rhymes, and the music of beloved Canadian/Armenian artist Raffi and Americans Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and Tom Paxton.
In 2004, after taking early retirement from teaching school, she began songwriting for adults. She’d spent years writing songs in the classroom with children. She stepped out right then, and began playing venues around Houston; Baltimore, MD; Baton Rouge; New Orleans; and Hollywood, CA. Recently (August, 2007)she appeared in Paris, France.
In need of a packaged CD for a conference in February of 2007, Glynace joined minds with wizard sound engineer and astounding musician himself, Texas-born ROBERT FRITH (check out Frith’s own website: robertfrith.com) to record and produce Glynace’s all-oringinal, children-and-parent singalong CD “SUGARBABY,” which has had incredible success and enjoys extreme popularity in Louisiana, Texas, Massachusetts, and France. She and Frith have their heads together now on the co-production and recording of a second CD for kids and a FIRST adult CD of Ms. Eastham’s Americana/folk originals!
The first-born in a music-loving family, Glynace recalls her dad singing Hank Williams’ love songs to her mother and rousing the kids each morning by singing "Lazybones" until every child was out of bed to make him stop!
Glynace writes in a number of genres, basically folk and childrens’, and her lyrics come straight from the heart. Her love of music is as contagious as her "homespun" tunes; and originals like "Louisiana Rain" and "Mama Pearl" can leave you slapping your knee and singing the choruses long after she leaves the stage!
“Louisiana Rain” is included on the 2007 release of her all-original family singalong CD, “Sugarbaby,” available for purchase on cdbaby.com.
Her extensive repertoire includes her original songs, folk and popular music from the 60’s through the present, light rock (classic and contemporary,) Smoky Mountain gospel, American and foreign folk tunes, some old and new country R&B, a few classic French and Spanish numbers, and “just about every children’s and holiday song known to man!” For more info, check out her website: glynace.com.
Glynace entertains at private engagements, clubs, and appears weekly at Open mics_around Houston, Texas.

I work for a local school district in the special education department. We start off our morning listening to "Sugarbaby". Our boys and girls do not talk, but we all sing. The only way we can get one of our students to settle down is to play this CD and sing along. She loves it and I am buying two this go round so she can take one with her as a graduation present.
