Having collectively performed with jazz greats such as James Morrison, Terrell Stafford, Gary Bartz, Harry Connick Jr. and Jamie Ohlers, the musical pedigree of their work continues to be recognised by peers, industry and audiences alike. "The opening White Silence reveals a fine delicacy of touch from the leader, ably abetted by the full-bodied bass of Sam Anning and Michael Perkins' laid back drums. Initial Reaction is a steamer, highlighting the burnished trumpet of Mat Jodrell and quicksilver alto of Carl Mackey. Alone on the Mountain was written by Glyn for Mat's yearning trumpet, redolent of longing. The Golden City is the trio alone and sparkling while City Lights brings back the horns for another up tempo romp with Carl on Tenor. Requiem for Honesty finds the trio in reflective mode again while 2nd Set at the Supper Club features a soaring Mat and incandescent Carl, again on tenor and as impassioned as a Brecker or Lovano. This was penned by Glyn especially for Carl.
All seven of these pieces were written by Glyn and demonstrate his skill with all facets of the genre. The remaining three compositions are by the bassist and are essayed by the trio alone. Aconcagua is a suitably respectful, even awe-filled piece dedicated to the world's second highest mountain in the Andes. Dr Ums is a happy, Latino piece that lifts the mood and the final work Deep Blue, not a blues but a thoughtful ballad.
The CD was superbly recorded by the multi-talented Lee Buddle at Loop Studios. It takes a jazzman to know how to get the best out of his peers! This 70 minute CD goes to show how much jazz talent can be found in Perth and is heartily recommended.

Unity, each musician complimented the other whether backup or lead.
