  • Abstractisms Delivers!

Glenn's new CD is really smooth, easy to listen to and stimulating all at once. Right X 2 really stands out with it jazzy rythyms. #7 reminds of George Duke back in the early 80's. But the jam is the title song "Abstractisms" which invokes visions of big city night-life. Very energetic. I really like this CD.

I think this is his best release to date. A little bit of this, some of that....just enough flavor to keep you listening and waiting to hear what's about to play next without coming close to overkill.

  • CHECK THIS OUT!

I was recently made aware of Glenn Alves' "Abstractisms" CD, and must say I'm not disappointed. I found track #6 "The Connect" to be especially smooth. I like this, and think you will too.

  • Sweet & Soulful!
    author: Smoothjazz.com Review

Guitarist Glenn Alves likes to quote Mos Def in his correspondence: "I ain't no perfect man. I try to do the best that I can with what it is I have." What it is that Mr. Alves has is a lovely, soulful gift of guitar playing. Prior to launching his own Smooth Jazz career, the Southwest Ohio native had been working with notable area cover bands, opening for many major label recording artists over the years. In 2004 he received an Honorable Mention in the instrumental category in the Song of the Year contest at SongoftheYear.com, and he currently has one of his newest tunes entered for 2007. On his latest CD release, ABSTRACTISMS, Glenn relies on those old school Dayton funk grooves while layering Smooth Jazz thick on top. Cool beats and sweet licks make ABSTRACTISMS glide... Glenn describes himself as an "around the way brother with a gang of music on his mind." He's a guitar player first and foremost, expressing his art with anything that he can wrap his fingers around... from an electric or synth guitar to an acoustic or a bass guitar, Glenn Alves finds a rich tone no matter what he picks up. Stand out songs on ABSTRACTISMS include “The Connect,” “If U Look You’ll Find," "Right X 2" and "I Wanna Talk 2 U." ABSTRACTISMS is a vivid work of art. ~SANDY SHORE
