Album Notes

gilli moon's restless creativity and rebellious nature continually urge her to push the envelope in the studio, on stage and with whatever she touches. The voice of a siren her piano purging songs oozing raw emotion and sensuality, gilli moon is the eternal quintessential renaissance woman. She's an illustrious, energetic poly-media artist & her multifaceted albums and dynamic, entertaining live shows have touched music lovers worldwide garnering high praise from the most jaded of critics. A chameleon in artistry and thought, gilli (like with a 'j') creates music that is fresh, rebellious, passionate and unique. Itunes has been unable to classify her. She stands alone. ABOUT THE ALBUM "Woman" CD, released on gilli moon's Warrior Girl Music label encompasses the emotions, passions and experiences of a young woman growing up, dealing with relationships and becoming self-empowered as an individual. "Woman" touches on female sensuality / sexuality, self-empowerment, openness / honesty and features Ms. Moon's band (with guest vocals by Cindy Alter (South Africa, ex- Clout band member) and Badi Assad (Brazil) along with awesome dance remixes by Sydney's Ice Jupiter Groove. gilli moon: "When i began to write the songs for "woman" i had to wonder why... what was my purpose in expression in this project? for most know that i am concept driven, i needed the project to be oriented around a theme, a concept, a meaning and agenda. I had grown up this time. the last 2 or 3 years had been a hurting time, filled with loneliness and sadness, broken relationship and lost soul mate. hurt, anger... that was what the CD before, temperamental angel, personified. but i knew that was temporary and that i would no longer remain the rebellious teenager. i need to empower myself, embark on a new journey as an artist, as a woman, and be open to the possibilities.  i wrote a book, a great book that inspires artists of all genres to get out there and make it happen for themselves. but i needed some strength for me, for my journey... and so was borne in the studio, in january through march 2002, i produced the album... WOMAN."   Released September 2002 in the U.S and January 2003 in Australia.    MEDIA gilli moon is spooky enough to be weird, melodic enough to be cool  - kerry jackson NEWCASTLE HERALD (TE SECTION), Australia   * * * * (4 stars) This singer-musician-poet-painter is going to be a superstar, at least she should be, and TE readers can claim her as their own. Moon may reside in Los Angeles but she grew up in the Wollombi Valley. This, her second album, is as multi-faceted as the title suggests. Moon exposes her soul on this record and what a wondrous soul she is. Confident one minute and fragile the next, she swells with sensuality while striding between Kate Bush-inspired pop, rock and jazz. Moon strips down a cover of the INXS hit Need You Tonight that will leave you breathless.. or breathing heavy.  - Chad Watson  BARFLY.COM.AU The 18 tracks on this, her second album show diversity, ranging from moody acoustic pieces to energised electro remixes, and Moon's vocal versatility is evident as she adapts to the varying styles with apparent ease. She defines a sonic space that is all her own on the haunting second track I'm Calling You, as well as on her sensual interpretation of the INXS classic I Need You Tonight. As the title would suggest, the lyrical content touches predominantly on feminine issues, stretching from sexuality to self empowerment. - Steve Perin POPSTOPS, CHICAGO  Gilli Moon, Woman. Gilli Moon's Temperamental Angel disc, released on her own Warrior Girl Music label ranked as one of my top albums of the year in 2000 and her follow-up album, Woman is now out on the same label. Woman offers both introspective "girl and a piano" songs like its intro, "Real" where she asks "why do I need a man to make me feel like a woman?" as well as dancehall-ready remixes like the Cher-influenced "Woman," and the throbb

Give It up and Let It Rock with Gilli Moon
author: Rick
Her words move with the motion of an altrock musical. Rocking around a bucking dance-pop core, Gilli slides and shimmies through sixteen tracks of sensual drama, playing roles, driving a curiousity-dripped exposition of love and sexuality. Hot pop rocking rhythm throbbing and blue, swelling cool vocal drama, jazzing, morphing poetic climaxes haunted by gospel wailing to throbbing urban and alt beats under the influence of softer more intimate touches and psychedelic ticklers, tightening little voids, that yield to the humming flow of slamming glam pop cut but once on a metallic edge, but once an anthem, but remembering often, charged and vibrating, sprinkles of musical fireworks ala electronica... A coda of driven dance mixes is the encore.

the SensuArtist begins to paint on an acrylic canvas ...
author: Indian Voices, San Diego
"..... the SensuArtist begins to paint on an acrylic canvas while the band motivates the mood. Gilli splatters paint on the clear canvas - subtle, gentle strokes in the beginning that follow with wide sweeps as she creates a portrait for the audience to view. Every aspect of this performance is about being at one with the audience. Being at one with her band, at one with herself. A truly amazing feat and to witness such humility of raw talent is so refreshing!"
