This was the first bit of music I had ever recorded using computer software. Everything up to this point I had recorded old school(analog) on reel to reel tape. I wrote the songs, performed the vocals & guitars/keyboards.

notes
John Gignoux’s contemporary compositions are an eclectic mix of unique melodies and thought provoking lyrics. His musical journey has spanned 30 years, from playing guitar, piano and songwriting to recording in his studio. Although influenced by bands of the 1960’s, Gignoux was inspired by the songwriters of the 1970’s.
Gignoux’s first release, “the Broadway Boys” was favorably reviewed in Keyboard Magazine while Progressive Music Encyclopedia (PME.com) proclaimed: “California Genius undiscovered, AOR/progressive one-man-show, reminds me of Todd Rundgren…..he’s got a wicked sense of humor……reminds me of Eno and Sparks collaborating on a van Dyke Parks record.”
The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Committee placed Gignoux on the Official Ballot for the 2007 Grammy Awards in the categories of Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for his composition, “The Landing” from his album “Dining At Horizons”.
Gignoux enjoys writing and recording music and continues to share that experience with others.

author: Xavier P. for RadioIndy“Last Hippie Standing” by John Gignoux is a masterful assembly of classic rock/pop audio delights! The high energy “Down the Bits” opens this diverse album, followed by the beautiful power ballad “American Skies.” No matter the style of song, John’s voice pierces through the music – his strong, dreamy voice is definitely an attention-grabber. Lyrically, this album covers lots of personal reflections and experiences - all told in a powerful, poetic manner. To top things off, the production of “Last Hippie Standing” strikes a perfect musical and vocal balance. If you enjoy the classic rock sounds of the 70s, you’ll find this album to be irresistible!
