notes
Every parent knows the saying, "Never wake a sleeping baby." But the real problem is how to get them to sleep in the first place.
For hundreds of years, lullabies have been used to soothe babies and children, and this collection presents familiar songs from several countries--lullabies that have been sung, hummed, or played for many, many years.
Jim Gibson is a prominent part of Atlanta's music community. He has played thousands of engagements "of every possible type, and he credits his unusual style to this experience. He has learned that, for many songs, "the melody is the most important thing in these arrangements. It must always be there."
In addition to his recordings for Hickory Cove Music, Jim has written four books on the music industry, recently spent two years as a full-time visiting professor in Georgia State University's School of Music, and still plays widely around the Southeast.
Thousands of people around the world have become "fans" of Jim's unusual style--and in this intentionally quiet recording you'll see why. There is an easy flow, a quiet and relaxed feel to these recordings that will help counter the stress of the day . . . and it might even put you to sleep.
