notes

Since the prescribed and timely ending of the Canadian post-punk indie-dance conesuers Despistado (Jade Tree), vocalist/guitarist Dagan Harding and guitarist Leif Thorseth spent a mere 6 months apart before re-gathering themselves to seek un-treaded musical waters once again. Not only has GERONIMO manifested from the ashes of despistado's innovative and critically acclaimed sound, moreover, they have since spread those ashes over the lake at the cabin you used to spend your summers. Geronimo is an assault on your senses. Depening and devastating your inability to deny this intense, witty, rock pop, electro, punk experiment; Geronimo is a Visceral overhaul of your eyes, mind, ears, taste buds and skin. These boys will break you down, pull you back up, and dust you off with a head slap. These five young gentlemen will melt your eyebrows and wax your legs while you speak in tongues. Together since Oct 2005 Leif Thorseth, Dagan Harding, Henry Brass, Garret Matheis, and the newly added John Dejenaro have shared the stage with acts such as Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Peter Bjorn and John, Minus the Bear, The Constantines, and Tapes n' Tapes. In early August 2006, Geronimo self-released their debut EP, ENLIGHTENMENT IN A SMALL TOWN. Amidst scattered touring throughout 2006 and 2007, 2 pop Montreal visits, and being named one of Chart Attacks "Bands To Look Out For In 2007"; Geronimo has laid ground that only Jesus could walk on. Enlightenment In A Small Town has become an antidote to everyday living for fans of these altruistic painters of hipocrisy. Its an HONEST bible if you will. Filled with as much self aware intrigue as it is humanist confusion. Playing to larger and larger crowds, and with the introduction of its stapled keyboard to back up 3 guitars, Bass and Drums; Geronimo has developed a versitile live performance that has garnished more national attention than Global Warming (To Support their "Global Waring Of The Heart" Campaign). Geronimo is generous with energy, excitement, musicianship and provocation. Moreover, you, the listener have an even more compelling narrative to look forward to - their 1st full length album is due sometime in Early 2008.

This band is really something. Reminding me (and better than) Modest Mouse, it gives me hope that still there are musicians out there that makes amazing music, without being "contaminated" or dictated by the commercial monsters that have being "flattening" the mainstream music scene. Make more albums. I will collect them all.
