notes
George Jones is one of the foundations of country music. No, he wasn't there at the beginning, but he was on the next bus. His voice is often cited as the one most envied by other male artists and his style is uniquely his own...when George sings a song, it becomes a George Jones original. I feel almost embarrassed to try to describe a voice already known to millions of country music fans around the world. George had a long and successful association with the Louisiana Hayride and appeared on the legendary Shreveport broadcast many times. The earliest of the 16 recordings on this CD was made in 1956 with the last one in 1969. So, sit back and take a tour of Country Music History with the incomparable voice of George Jones.

The Icon of Country Music and this album proves it once again !
author: David MitchellThis album is George's honky-tonk sound at it's peak during live performance. The playing and vocal harmonies of the original Jones Boy's on this album are still unsurpassed today for genuine pure-dee country music!
Just Add Headphones !
author: RhiannonWhen I was very young, my father and I used to visit a restaurant in Townsend, Tennessee at the foothills of the Great Smokies...there was a patio at the back of the restaurant where people could have thier country-ham and iced-tea as they listened to live and recorded country artists...I remember the sound of George Jones as I floated in the pool next-door to the restaurant under the stars...the sound of his voice takes me back to that time of being young and carefree...let it do the same for you !
