2006 GRAMMY® NOMINATED - BEST NEW AGE ALBUM ... An amazing eclectic blend of grand hammer dulcimer, Native American flutes, drums, bass, soprano sax, piano and percussion with a passionate synergy that is captivating beyond words

notes

Gentle Thunder has united with kindred spirits Will Clipman and AmoChip Dabney to record her third release, entitled Beyond Words. The potent and passionate interplay among these three artists feels as natural as the in-breath, out-breath of all life. Their eclectic blend of world instruments creates a stellar new sound and a visually exciting concert experience. Imagine Gentle Thunder weaving her magical melodies on grand hammer dulcimer and Native American flute (at times playing both instruments at once)while periodically returning to her musical roots on drum set as Will holds the earthly pulse on his pan-global palette of percussion and Amo improvises masterfully on piano, bass, and soprano sax.

Gentle Thunder is a multi-instrumentalist (grand hammer dulcimer, Native American flutes, and drums), composer, and producer. Her performances in the UK, Canada, the US, Greenland, and Europe have garnered Gentle Thunder an international following, and her solo recordings Awakening Remembrance and Winds of the Heart, have charted in the New Age Reporter Top 100. Beyond Words has been GRAMMY® NOMINATED for Best New Age Album in 2006. Both live and on recording, Gentle Thunder enchants audiences around the globe with her distinctive sound and heart-filled presence.

AmoChip Dabney is a multi-instrumentalist (piano, keyboards, bass, and sax), composer, and producer with over thirty albums to his credit, a 2005 GRAMMY® Nominee for People of Peace (R. Carlos Nakai Quartet/Canyon Records), which he engineered, mixed, and produced at his own Completely Bare Studio in Tucson, Arizona and now 2006 GRAMMY® Nominee for Beyond Words. Known for his versatility, Amo again wore both musician’s and engineer’s hats on the recording of Beyond Words.

Will Clipman is a multi-percussionist (udu, djembe, Taos drums, and drumset) and four-time GRAMMY® Nominee, recently in 2005 for the Nakai Quartet’s People of Peace and now for Beyond Words. Known as the perfect partner, Will has recorded over fifty albums, including twenty-one for Canyon Records, where he is regarded as the house percussionist.

On Beyond Words, Gentle Thunder’s hammer dulcimer, drumming and Native American flute virtuosity is enveloped in Will’s polyrhythmic groove artistry and embellished with Amo’s phenomenal multi-instrumentalism. Beyond Words blends Gentle Thunder’s original compositions with inspired ensemble improvisations that are grounded in her intuitive rhythmic dialogue with Will, then take flight in her eloquent harmonic and melodic conversation with Amo. The result is a sumptuous sonic synergy of the highest order, and a dazzling live performance that is simply beyond words!

  • RE: Beyond Words

This music is so pure and honest, so heartfelt and sweet, that I fear most adults won't "get it". It's almost too much to handle; especially when they're so darn busy "living" (read that "existing") in this hustling, fast paced world. But, on the other hand, that's no reason not to listen to this music. It can only do you good. Thank you for this GREAT contribution to the world of music. PS: "If music be the song of love, play on!" :) Mark _/*_/*

GT & Will & Dabney have provided us with a truly enriching experience with this effort. I have had the pleasure of playing with GT & Will with my Native American Flute and I know their dedication and passion. Keep up the great work guys and I hope to get with you again soon.

The music has a profoundly spiritual feel and is powerfully uplifting. I have played it in my classroom when I want the children to work quietly and they have already begun to request it.
