notes
Gruvis Malt started as a 6 piece, and are currently 6 pieces, but have seen that arrangement transformed many many times over the last 9 years. We recorded our first tape in the basement of our bassist's cousin, who had a six-track cassette recorder - which was a veritable Jaguar in comparison with our previous recording methods (a broken tape deck). From 1995 until now, we have built up audiences under the name "Grüvis Malt" all over the world, but mainly in the US east and west coasts by constant touring and internet promotion. We have recorded cassette EP's, two disc EP's, and four full length albums. My family is now spread around the world (my mother lives in Switzerland, one sister in Honduras, one in CA, and one in OR), so being in the band has taken away that support structure. The members of Grüvis Malt are my closest family now. I guess it's a demonstration of poetic justice that I started life in a house of girls, and now find myself in a house of boys.
Playing American rock and roll has been the hardest and best thing I've ever done in my life. I sidestepped college and a solid paycheck in order to give my life to it. The emotional highs and lows of doing this are stressful, but I would rather be living those peaks and valleys than living a straight line.

Why is he not a household name yet ?

Finally, someone sings the truth...
author: SamanthaI saw this guy perform in my little town Hemet CA recently, and I've never seen anything like it. He did the whole set with just a keyboard and he made the beats with his mouth with some pedal that looped it. I ordered the CD a week later when I finally found his website and just wanted to say it's my favorite album of the last few years by far. It's very "confrontational," for lack of a better word. You should check it out if you like Bjork, Jeff Buckley, Elliot Smith, and others like that.
Highly Impressive work Gavin... And I am NOT one to give out 5's often.
author: CHASE SwAyZeSimply beautiful... Diversified, simple & complex at the same time. Even though the word is often overused, You are an "artist" is every sense of the word... Respect. From Houston, Texas ~C.H.A.S.E. (Circumstances Have A Shifting Effect)
