Rachel is a storyteller. Her compositions are catchy. Her voice is smooth and when she sings her songs they stick with you long after the CD (or even her live performances) are over. A good example of her ability to tell her stories is the song "Alternative Fuel." Her eco-tour on a van that was called the "veggie-van", becuase it ran on recycled veggie oil. Another example of her versatile voice is "Johnnie Cope" where she sings in the tone of an Irish accent. All her songs are well-written and like I mentioned before memorable.
The art of songwriting ... study here.
author: BarrelhouseThe songs, performance, and production value honor the listener on each playing. For anyone who admires the art of songwriting .... study here. While Garlin's voice and guitar are always strongly the center, the addition of backup musicians shows that the architecture of what she creates scales to any size...something all great songwriters share. There is often deep introspection in the lyrics, but it's a type of introspection that relates I with thou... there's a reason these songs exist ...for all of us.

Amazing!
author: EmilyRachel Garlin is amazing! Her lyrics describe life so well and you can relate to almost everything she's saying. Tom's Song is my personal favorite on this album. I'd recommend her any day! This album has become one of my favorites
This cd is great - sweet and thoughtful.
author: BMDNothing but praise for this cd. Lyrics are sweet and evoke familiar, nostalgic chords in the listener. "Julie" rings true for anyone who has ever taught or been a mentor and "Airplane Love Letter" is darling. Highly recommended!
