Contemporary Folk/Acoustic: Intense lyrics and worthy aims, and a singer-songwriter you could relax to in the small hours, soothed by mellow vocal tones and letting the smooth guitar riffs roll all over you.” -The Courant

notes

“It's really refreshing to hear a quality songwriter like Gareth Davies-Jones who has something to say and says it without fuss. Moving writing and all round class musicianship."
Karine Polwart

Gareth is a seasoned singer-songwriter/campaigner and has appeared at many of the UK’s well known festivals and venues including Brampton Folk Festival, Greenbelt Festival, Off The Tracks, Crossover, The Sage - Gateshead, Brighton Arena, Brewery Arts Centre, Hitchin Folk Club and others. His work spans four albums to date the latest being “Only For A Short While” (2006), produced by Graham Duffin and Sandy Jones (WetWetWet), accompanied by Kevin McQuire on Double Bass (Karine Polwart trio and Eddi Reader band) and Dougie Weir on Mandolin (Honey Thieves). Compared stylistically to acts like James Taylor, Brian Kennedy and Fernando Ortega, Gareth has a crisp clear guitar style and a mature and memorable voice. A common theme running through his music is justice and he works closely with organisations like Traidcraft, Christian Aid and CMS to raise awareness of the need for Trade Justice and a better deal for the world’s poorest producers. Previous tours include “The 3 Tour” with Neil Alton and Yvonne Lyon, “The Fair Trade Tour” with Rob Halligan and support work for Karine Polwart, Paul Field and Coco Mbassi.
