notes

"Gabrielle Angelique has a special gift, a unique voice that takes you along on an adventurous journey of sounds, weaving her sweet elixir of magical melodies up, around, and through you. On her latest CD “Dance with the Stars” Gabrielle also captivates you with her harp and keyboard talent, playing each instrument as if it were an extension of her.

Some of Gabrielle’s songs on “Dance with the Stars” are etheric, even meditative in nature, reminiscent of a lilting Enya. Some are earthy with a deep, resonant vibration connecting us to something dependable and sure. Others are childlike, a pure joyful expression of gaiety. And some are so profound; they send an intense message deep into our bones, securing our attention.

It is a journey not to be taken lightly. The ultimate effect is haunting. Gabrielle’s lush voice on her latest CD will follow you long past the first listening, begging you to listen….and listen again"

~Patsey Kahmann free lance writer author of "Paris in the Springtime"

"This talented songstress and harpist does beautiful justice to traditional Scottish ballads as well as contemporary classics like Mick Jagger's “Wild Horses.” Gabrielle's ethereal, Celtic vocals soar and touch the sky on her original songs such as “Fairy Realm” and “Mermaid She Was.” Her rendition of “Wuthering Heights” by Kate Bush and Enya's “May It Be” are sure to move and inspire.

New Age and contemporary, ancient and modern is this latest release by Gabrielle Angelique. Sure to fit in the Celtic/New Age bin, Gabrielle crosses over into contemporary with her unique arrangements. There is no stopping this artist who is gifted with an enchanting voice and beautifully written compositions that have you “Dancing in the Fairy Realm.”

I am pleased to feature a wonderful CD by a truly beautiful young lady I met at the Des Moines art fair at the fairgrounds. She had four CD's on continual play with their separate headphones and she occasionally played her Celtic harp while her husband sold her CD's and jewelry.
Gabrielle has an angelic sound that gives me goosebumps. I am an Enya fan and the songs on this CD remind me a little of Enya but Gabrielle definitely has her own style."

~Carolyn Dargevics PhD, EnTheos-Holistic

*Gabrielle and her husband Dustin travel the country 200 days a year selling her CD's and handmade jewelry at art fairs for her family owned company Harp Stone.
Her discography includes Echo, Celtic Mystique, Light, Return to Mono, Celtic Twilight, and Dance with the Stars.
She currently lives in Eden Prairie, MN. She loves to: read fantasy and spiritual books, watch comedies, go for walks, draw, write, find inspiration by enjoying the beautiful art she has collected from shows (which are conveniently displayed in her studio), travel the country and to experience the local flavors of the cities she visits. She also loves all things in nature.

  • Nice to hear "oldies" in a whole new way!

I've been a fan for ages, and was pleasantly surprised at finding some of my old favories done in a refreshing new way! The remake of "Wild Horses" was by far the best version I've ever heard. I've always loved Gabrielle's harp mastery, and her versatile vocals. Track 1 is by far my favorite on this one! The CD was such a delicious treat for the ears! I'm eagerly anticipating her next release.

  • Fairy Realm
    author: Tracy Higgins

This CD caught my eye and when I saw it had a song called "Fairy Realm" I just had to give it a listen.I love that song.It makes me feel as though I'm in a whole other world.Gabrielle's voice is so pretty and soothing but she also really knows how to pipe out her songs which I like.I also enjoyed her version of "Wild Horses" you really feel the emotion in her voice.I liked Anachie Gordon because Loreena McKennit sang that song back in the day which is a really tragic song sort of like the story of Tristan and Isolde but Gabrielle gave her own spirit to the words.I must say her best song was "Fairy Realm,it gave me chills.I think that song will be in my head all day "For we all dance in the fairy realm" hmm, hmm, hmm

  • Lovely

Gabrielle Angelique is a harpist and singer making ethereal and relaxing music. Her new album sees her tackle her own and others songs with great talent. The title song opens the album, a gently flowing melody underscored by Angelique's singing. "Skye Boat Song" is a neat arrangement of a traditional song. The harp makes a pleasing sound. It's audacious to cover a Kate Bush song and this version of "Wuthering Heights" works well. Angelique tells Heathcliff and Cathy's story as id she'd written it herself. Many other artists have sung "He Moved through the Fair", but this version is also very poignant and moving. The album ends with Enya's "May It be" and it's a fitting way to close this soothing album. It has what it takes to calm even the most troubled souls.

  • ethereal pretty
    author: Collected Sounds

The music is multilayered, soft, fairy-like and pretty. Gabrielle Angelique's voice is lovely. It's a little girly. I would compare her to maybe Kate Bush, especially on her cover of Bush's song, "Wuthering Heights" which is beautiful.

  • An incredible album!
    author: Kathy Parsons

I have to admit that when I received “Dance With the Stars” for review, I was a bit skeptical. Celtic music was done to death a few years ago, so I was happily shocked to be completely blown away by Gabrielle Angelique’s incredible voice and amazing story songs. Since I started listening to this CD about a week ago, I’ve become completely hooked, and have found myself driving around with the volume cranked up as loud as I could stand it. Wow! Angelique’s voice is the focus on this CD, as it should be, and she also plays the accompanying harp and keyboards. The background instrumentation is perfect in its simplicity - ambient keyboard washes, harp, and the occasional rhythm track to set the soul to dancing. Several of the songs are fairy tales that charm with their innocence and purity, but others are darker and more painfully emotional. The tales are fascinating - mermaids, fairies, Wuthering Heights, lost love, found love, a bonny boat - and all of the lyrics are included in the beautifully illustrated booklet that accompanies the CD. Some of the songs are original, some are traditional Celtic songs, and some are cover tunes, yet the whole album is a cohesive package. I hate to gush, but this CD has really captured my imagination! The title track opens the CD with a feeling of mystery. One of the darker melodies, the words and Angelique’s sweet voice immediately draw you in and prepare you for the journey into days of old and fairylands where anything is possible. One of the surprises is “Wild Horses” by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. What a gorgeous melody, and Angelique puts heart and soul into it. I like everything on this album, but my favorite track is “Fairy Realm.” The driving beat is infectious, as is the sound of the fairies laughing as they dance and play with innocence and abandon. The singer is the holder of the key to the realm, but she obviously has knowledge of the outside world where wars rage and blood is spilled. None of that exists in the Fairy Realm. Great song! I also really like “Wuthering Heights,” which was written by Kate Bush, but Angelique makes it her own. Passion and desperation run through the song, and yet Cathy’s voice is clear and strong in knowing what she wants. “A Mermaid She Was” is the delightful tale of a mermaid who has lived on the land for awhile and pleads with the ocean to let her come home again. “Anachie Gordon” is the tragic love story of a young woman forced by her parents to marry a rich man while in love with another. A traditional Scottish song, Angelique infuses it with defiance and loss as her heart breaks for her beloved Anachie. The CD closes with a poignant ballad by Enya, “May It Be.” What a knockout of an album! Very highly recommended!
