notes

"Tony Gallicchio could not have chosen a more fitting name for his record Groove Junction. It is just that. Every song grooves, swoons and jives through fantastic bass work, soothing, yet soulful vocals and some solid piano play." Brian Campbell, Rochesterathome.com

Tony Gallicchio 23, was introduced to music at a young age by his father, an Elvis and Beatles fanatic. Tony started playing the drums at the age of 10 and little did he know, this would redirect his life. Music became a passion and a love. At the age of 14 he was playing out with other local musicians . He soon began learning the piano in order to express himself through original compositions. The piano has become his instrument and his voice.

Tony is a graduate of Finger Lakes Community College where he studied Music Recording and Piano. He has provided his sound for many groups such as Rubber Soul, The Cosmic Sex Prophets, Javine, Doja and the Hill St. All-Stars. and is currently involved in the up and coming band Rebel Jelly.

Blending the styles of jazz, blues, and funk Tony has developed a style of his own with an emphasis on meaning, passion and soul. Spreading his music has now become a goal. With the release of his debut album "Groove Junction" he will see what he can accomplish. This is just the beginning, the beginning of a journey.

  • Debut album from Tony Gallicchio doesn't disappoint.
    author: Groove Monthly

The album starts out with a rocking excursion through "Distant Mile." The follow up tune, "Can We Get Back," lures you in with it's sweet organ and vocal harmonies, building to a guitar crescendo. "Easy Love" sounds like the result of a trist involving Dr. Dre, Parliament and Deep Purple. The mellow lounge groove of "Don't Look" takes you by the heart with soothing vocal acrobatics, breathing an air of love into the album. "Arise, Arise" eases us into the meat of the album taking us gently into the laid back swamp-funk of "Half-Step." The hip-hop influence is never more apparent on the record than now, bringing the juxtaposition that the doctor ordered for a fulfilling listening experience."How You Been" could be dropped in any generation and thrive as an expression of the uncertainties of human interaction. To this reviewer "As We Come of Age" is the centerpiece and strongest composition on the album, accomplishing the transcendance that all music strives for. The flow of "Wondering" has the whole package. Tight drumming, raging guitar work, thought provoking lyrics and soulful vocals, and is guaranteed to raise the hair on your neck. The funk soul stylings of "Woman is a Mystery" harken to a time when things were simpler. It's an anthem to feelin' good and doin' right. "Listen" is a slow jazz infected jam that is subtle enough to catch an egg. The level of musicianship is as apparent on this track as any other. The final cut on the album is "Morning Song." With its beautiful vocal harmonies and slinky guitar work this song is a fitting ending to a roller coaster of an album that deserves to be listened to over and over again. Not only for the compositions, not only for the amazing musicianship, but for the overall mood and picture that it paints.
