There is a gaping void in the Gallatin and New York University community. With a student body made up of countless musicians and music lovers alike, NYU has not presented its students with an outlet to share their original music. Gallatone aims to change all this by giving the local student community an encouraging and exciting opportunity to get their musical voices heard.
Our mission is simple -- to create and maintain a student-run record label that releases student music to the student body and, perhaps, even beyond. Initially, we planned on releasing a compilation of student music which would showcase our community's songwriters and musicians; Gallatone Volume 1 is the product of that vision. Gallatone will use the profits to fund future compilations and albums spotlighting specific artists. Gallatone will function as a self-sustaining, nonprofit organization, which will give students the opportunity to run a record label, express their creative voices, and share their musical interests.
