notes
We are not a funk band. We are a state of mind, a kind of music that, much like a fungus, will grow on you.
Get it?
We are all about the spirit of music, the atmosphere and reactions it creates, the energy, the movement, the feeling, the flavor, the love.
All of these things are a result of years of experimentation and research that has been named "flavor rock" by a local Orlando publication.
We are a collaboration of some of Orlando's finest musicians in search of something new, something different, something fun.
Kind, flavorful, commercially challenged grooves... We are funkUs.
Live, local, sweaty! Get infected!

More than you'd expect from a small band in a big city...
author: Vanessa Bormann, Ink 19, January 2002...while their name suggests that they have a funk sound, they deny it. In reality, they can best be described as funk rock, more colorful than Barenaked Ladies, but traveling the same basic lyrical road... with songs such as "Whatever," the totally vocally pleasing "Cold Wind Blows," retro beach sounding "Darlin', Darlin', Darlin'" and "Warm,"... the music quality is more than you'd expect from a small band in a big city.
The CD highlights tight musicianship with a whimsical attitude...
author: Connections Magazine, December 2001A mishmash of many different styles, Flavour combines a little sweet, with a little salty, a little spice and a dash of humor. With the vibe of the neighborhood pool hall - casual, yet rowdy - Flavour is well mixed and produced. A hybrid of funky jazz, country rock and reggae, the CD highlights tight musicianship with a whimsical attitude...
Music Puts the Fun in funkUs
author: Steven M. Mason...in listening to 'flavour', one will indeed get a taste of the powerful vocals of Ron, the sweeping guitar licks of "the cat", the resounding rhythm of "Mojo", and the primal pummeling of Adam. A sample of 'flavour' will leave one licking his or her fingers (or each other's) and wanting more... Be it the hymnal "Whatever", the funkUs anthem that commands everyone to "party", or the eloquent "I Got" that unashamedly tells it like it is, one needs more than a toothpick to shake loose the lingering particles echoing in the cranial cavity...
funkUs- They got the flavour
author: Kim Stock, Colorfulmusic.comThe long awaited CD from Orlando legends, funkUs, is jam-packed with memorable melodies and funkalicious grooves. The guitar work is brisk and intelligent and plays like a "how-to" guide on melodic accentuation, with more wholesome tones than you can shake a stick at and groovin' blues leads that jump out like a tall man in a pop-up book. Make sure and check out the S.R.V. inspired solo to "Whatever" and you'll get a fairly good idea of how kind the juicy nuggets of sound are on this most excellent release... this album will be one that is talked about for a long time. Now, go get a little funky and dig the flavour.
