Saunders first came to international prominence as one of the core players with the renowned fund/pop artist, Hamilton Bohannon, and then as a key member of the pioneering rock/jazz ensemble, The Jeff Beck/Jan Hammer Group. In the early '80s, Saunders started long-term collaborations as a player, producer and frequent co-songwriter, with the esteemed urban rockers Lou Reed and Marianne Faithfull, and world beat musician Kip Hanrahan.

One of the world's most highly sought after studio and touring musicians, Saunders has recorded and/or performed with a number of renowned musical figures including Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Joan Baez, John McLaughlin / The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Pat Benetar and Heart. Saunders launched his solo career on an Amnesty International tour before a sold-out stadium crowd in Chile. He has since yielded two critically acclaimed, self-produced solo albums, Cashmere Dreams (Grudge/BMG) and The Spin (A&M) And Recent Release

Looking to expand his musical horizons beyond pop, rock, and gospel, Saunders teamed up with Korean guitarist Pete Min and Japanese keyboardist Derek Nakamoto and played on Blues In The East by revered Chinese multi-instrumentalist, Sola. This broad, international musical approach has led to Saunders becoming a most in-demand producer for such diverse artists as Special EFX, Susan Werner and Hungarian artist Presser Garbor, among others.
