  • Variation galore

Very pleasing to the ear - and to the musical mind. Rarely have I heard a composer/musician twist a theme in so many directions and still make the music flow with such ease and in such an ear-pleasing, yet still interesting way.

  • Too Many Female Horn Players...

...Get short shrift from the jazz press and from fans --at least in the U.S. I hope Frøy Aagre can buck that trend. Her CD is a knockout, with elegant compositions and first-rate sidemen. This is going on my shelf right next to Jane Ira Bloom, Jane Bunnett, and Matana Roberts' Sticks and Stones trio. It's that great ! :)

  • Wonderful!
