"Music In My Heart" is the first children's CD from New Jersey-based singer/songwriter Rebecca Frezza. The album combines Rebecca's direct and melodic songwriting, with a sophisticated production and wonderful playing, that draws upon a wide range of musical styles from rock, pop and folk to blues, R&B and beyond.
From her early years, music was a significant part of Rebecca's life, in a family where everyone played an instrument and there was always music in the house. "I remember my mother teaching me the harmony vocal to 'You Are My Sunshine' while sitting in the back seat of the car." Growing up, Rebecca listened to everything from folk and blues to progressive rock, jazz and classical music. She studied theater and dance at the Boston Conservatory of Music, then at the Alvin Ailey school in New York, before working professionally in musical theater.
After moving to Montclair, NJ and taking time off to have a family, Rebecca began a new career teaching music to young children with the nationally known "Music Together" program. Encouraged by having several songs published through Music Together, and inspired by her own children and those in her classes, Rebecca began to write more. Her classroom environment provided a valuable opportunity to try out new material and get immediate feedback from the families, which motivated her to record the songs. It was through the local Music Together community of parents and teachers that Rebecca found producer/engineer/musician Chris Putnam, and a wealth of other talented musicians, singers, and other willing contributors to the project.
The diversity of the thirteen new songs on this CD will appeal to children and parents alike, from the rock/pop of "Big Truck" and "Superman," to the fiddle, banjo and mandolin of the country-rock "I Can I Will I'll Try," and the acoustic folk of "Curiosity" and "Skipping Stones". Other songs like "Music In My Heart," "Clouds" and "Monster In My Room" have grooves inspired by African pop, reggae and world music.
Pulling everything together is Rebecca's easy going and accessible voice, and memorable songs, almost all of which are written from a child's perspective and speak to the everyday lives of children and their families.

very, VERY good songs - Jessica. I really like it - Kyra.
author: Jessica and Kyra and MomFun for the whole family, especially while traveling in the car. My girls were still singing their favorite songs hours later. My mom, who's a teacher, bought the CD to play in her classroom. "Skipping Stones" is my personal favorite. The exposure to different musical styles is accomplished in a fun, lighthearted, and loving way. I find myself and my daughters humming Rebecca's tunes throughout the day.
Great for the whole family- fun and we love it!
author: Ashlee"This is the ideal album for the family!!!! I did not think this could exist- an album that my kids love and that I love! Rebecca's lyrics are catchy and simple enough for my kids to understand, (and for me to sing throughout the day) and while the images are positive and encourage the same kind of thought I, as a mother, encourage, she never gets preachy. The morals are there, but the music, the fun of listening and dancing and singing along with great music, that comes first. Each song has it's own musical style, as well as it's own story. The music is mature and complex enough to keep my ears tuned, yet not too complicated for the ears of my 2 and 3 year old. My 22 month old, Michael, sings 'rolling, rolling, rolling, big truck!' He asks for Rebecca by name, and without fail, every day! And Steven, my 3 year old, gets the CD out by himself and puts it in the CD player. 'OK, let's dance, mommy.' I recommend this album highly.
Wonderful!!
author: AlisonI was introduced to this CD through my music class and fell in love with it. My 14 month old loves it as well as my 11 year old. It is the first request when we get in the car!!
A great find. Kids will love this CD.
author: Robyn FMusic in My Heart from Rebecca Frezza is just the CD I've been looking for. My kids absolutely adore the music. My two-year-old and five-year-old are asking for it "AGAIN! AGAIN!" The songs really speak to the kids in a voice they can relate to. And, this is music that grown-ups can listen to over and over without going crazy! I have to admit to listening to the CD even when the kids aren't around. Very fun, very funky and a really great find. Favorite tracks in my house are Superman, Big Truck and Music in My Heart, but they're all great. Highly recommend this CD.
