notes
Freebo's success in rock'n'roll has been well documented over the years. From bass player/band member with Bonnie Raitt for a decade to countless studio sessions and tours with artists ranging from John Mayall, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Maria Muldaur and Ringo Starr, to T.V. appearances on "Saturday Night Live," "Midnight Special," and "Muppets Tonight," as well as tuba performances with Dr. John and the legendary Spinal Tap, Freebo has achieved status and respect in a creative and highly competitive field. It would seem reasonable to assume that most musicians would continue along such a well-honed path. But rather than resting on his laurels, Freebo has embarked on a new musical career.
Why did he wait until now to emerge as a singer/songwriter? "As much as I enjoyed playing bass on other people's music, it did not fulfill my creative desires," explains Freebo. "And as I continued to feel incomplete, I searched inside, writing down my feelings in the form of poetry, or lyrics. That unlocked something inside of me, something that had been stuck for many years, and it wasn't long before I began putting music to the lyrics. Thus, the singer/songwriter in me was born, and the dream of complete creative expression finally became reality."
His 1999 release of the "THE END OF THE BEGINNING" was very well received by fans and press alike. "A smart songwriter and tasty singer with a light, heartfelt delivery" wrote The Philadelphia Daily News. Bass Player Magazine declared Freebo's debut CD "is not a bass player record, but rather a collection of great feeling songs with heart-felt vocals spanning styles from country and blues to reggae, second line, and rock."
Freebo's new CD, "DOG PEOPLE," consists entirely of songs written about dogs. Inspired by his beloved golden retriever Garbo, "DOG PEOPLE" contains brand new songs written by Freebo honoring the unconditional love, endless joy of the moment, and unwaivering faithfulness of our canine friends. Along with these original songs, Freebo sings his own versions of such classics as "Old Shep," "Old Blue," and Neil Young's "Old King," all recorded with the help of his many talented musical friends.
Freebo, in his uncanny way, creates an intimate setting by connecting and interacting with his audience, no matter how large or small the venue. Performing primarily on acoustic guitar, he also manages to work his tuba, ukelele, and bass into the show, thus bringing everyone into his eclectic world. By show's end, Freebo's songs will leave you with a smile on your face and a tear in your eye!

What 70's music should have become
author: audibell.netSome of the best song-writing I've heard in 30 years - why'd it take so long, man? hearing those great musicians again was like getting back in the river after a too long absence. Garbeaux is magnificent and a life saver, just like my 2. Keep going D, you are IT! in heavy rotation with Bach, Handel, RCray & Meters. Walter London 75 OGWT - ask Will
