Frank Sullivan received a Masters Degree in Music Education from the University of Missouri and has taught public school music in Sturgeon, Missouri, and Miami, Florida. He has also taught jazz piano at the Navy School of Music in Wahington, D.C., the Miami Conservatory in Miami, Florida, and the Academy of Music and Art in Gainesville, Florida.
As a player, he has performed and/or recorded with the following well known jass musicians: John Aberchrombie, Ray Anderson, Bobby Bradford, Nick Brignola, John Carter, Pete Christlieb, Al Cohn, Jerry Coker, Cal Collins, Kenny Davern, Ron Eschete, Buddy DeFranco, Carl Fontana, Gary Foster, Al Grey, Bill Grimes, Carmell Jones, Clifford Jordan, Sheila Jordan, Bob Mover, Anthony Ortega, Nathan Page, Bill Prince, Emily Remler, Stacy Rowles, Bobby Shew, Ira Sullivan, Buddy Tate, Bill Watrous, Ernie Watts, Frank Wess, and Phil Wilson.
As an author he has published five song books for elementary school music (Harris Publishing: Ft. Worth, Texas, 1973-1977) and Diminished Scale Studies for the Jazz Musician (1998).
