notes
"You haven't suffered yet", are words of wisdom spoken by my father. This is the title of one of twelve new songs representing an honest disclosure of life's struggles and stumbling pathways from my new CD, CITIZEN FRAIL. Compared to my previous release, THE GULF BETWEEN, this record is a similar mix of relational and personal stories about the difficulties of life that bounce us around, leaving us without direction. It also searches for what is pulling us through, a glimmer of hope, a purpose for all we endure.
"Where's the peace?" Maybe it lies in the thick muck of living day to day, embracing life's struggles, longing for something more...
...aching, waiting, the everything we are, the scars, shades of blue,
the aim for what is true, slipping in the carnival motion, swirling away from this scene, hoping, deep in the heart, it's anticipation's
fond permission.

well-crafted, cohesive, with lots of feeling
author: Charley ScanlanIt's a kick-ass album! Pete blends a theme of personal struggle with subtle and catchy harmonies. It ends up being quite uplifting, and it's nice to listen to when I'm walking through campus. Plus, with Jon Preuss on guitar(s), how can you lose!?!
Pete Forbes does it again!
author: Glenn HarterIt was a five year wait for Pete Forbe's follow up album to "The Gulf Between". "Citizen Frail" again delivers on every quality I loved about his debut. Fantastic songwriting, awesome musicians, and great sounding production. A powerful and moving album!
A fantastic follow up to The Gulf Between! Mature songwriting!
author: John FeldmannStart to finish, this cd kept my interest. It is well written and there are a multitude of flavors and emotions throughout the cd. If it sounds like I am describing a fine wine, it's because I am. Great players, awesome mix, nice job!
ON THE CUTTING EDGE OF LIFE
author: Listening in L.A."Citizen Frail" is cutting-edge artistry, in that listening to it pulls me straight into the major themes of life - as a great painting would, or a great poem. Every song is its own treat, with compelling lyrics and melodies, dynamic rhythms, & interesting instrumentation - creative musicianship all the way out to the edge.
