Green Golly & Her Golden Flute
by Keith Torgan & Barbara Siesel
an introduction to classical music based on the story of Rapunzel
Barbara Siesel (Flute Sweets): flutist, performing artist and producer, performs in both traditional venues and in experimental new media projects. She is a graduate of the Juilliard School and has taught at both Colby College and The New World School of the Arts. Barbara founded and directed the Storm King Music Festival and is now the artistic director of Art, Culture & Technology and music director of Common Ground 2008. One day she noticed that there weren't enough children in her audience so she decided to start creating music events for children and families. She now appears in over two hundred children's performances a year and resides with her husband Keith, in New York City.
Keith Torgan (Tickletoons): singer, songwriter, guitarist, actor and storyteller has appeared in hundreds of theatres, museums, schools and libraries throughout the United States. Keith was educated at Circle in the Square Theater Schoool and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He started creating children's music in 1991 when he was accidently invited to a performance in Little Rock and was asked to write one children's song. It opened the floodgates of his immaturity – and he's be writing for kids ever since.
Jessica Krash: Jessica Krash likes to use music as a way of exploring diverse social, personal, and philosophical values. Her new CD for solo piano was selected by the Washington Post in 2005 as one of the year’s most interesting. Harvard educated, Krash also received a masters degree from The Juilliard School and a doctorate from the University of MAryland. Dr Krash has taught at the University of Maryland, George Mason University, and the Levine School of Music, and is currently on the faculty of the George Washington University, and gives lectures at the Kennedy Center and the Library of Congress.
