80 MINUTES OF PURE INTOXICATING AND ADDICTING SOUNDS.
(visit www.FLOYDHEAD.com for more details)
"Inventive and Avant-Garde. The mystery, the awe, and the complex thought behind the original songs have been kept intact. As an abstract painter from the renaissance portrays his view of timeless objects, I have done so with the music of Pink Floyd."
DETAILS:
Floydhead is a collective of DJ's, musicians and graphic artists under the guidance of "Seth." The Floydian Propulsion Project (The Artistic Electronica of Pink Floyd) takes samples from every studio album released by Pink Floyd, then remixes, warps, distorts and channels the non-conformist, anti-establishment spirit of the band into a wholly original creation of artistic merit and style. This is more than just a loving tribute to Pink Floyd; this is collaboration between a generation of musicians raised on cutting edge technology with a band whose sound is synonymous with classic rock.
THE FLOYDIAN PROPULSION PROJECT:
Imagine, if you will, that you live not here, on this Earth, but someplace else (a place whose distance from your earthly office or bedroom wouldn't be measured in miles, but in light years). And on this planet far, far away, you had the short band equivalent of on interstellar receiver through which you could tune into the broadcasts of a 1,000 million civilizations scattered throughout the universe. And on this night, you turn your attention, for the first time, to a spot on the dial you'd never been. An ancient frequency, from a location on the far shores of a distant galaxy.
As you tune through the static of gamma ray bursts and radiation being emitted by neutron stars, the disorder on your speakers is soon replaced by the conscious construction of sound from an advanced civilization. It has taken millennia for these transmissions to cross the vast expanse of space that separates you from this place unseen, unknown - from a planet that very probably no longer exists, swallowed by the expansion of its own star.
A kaleidoscopic quilt of voices, melodies and instruments echoes in your dimly lit room. You calibrate your universal translator and hear sounds that you recognize as parody, irony, and playfulness. Boundaries between high and low forms of art are non-existent. You experience fragmentation and discontinuity. Tonight's transmission is destructured, decentered.
Though you can't know it in your world far removed from the source of original broadcast, you are experiencing a continuum from early television and music to Moog culture and DJ scratching, looping and sampling. Snippets from SciFi programs, classic movies and celebrations of consumer culture fill the space between the stars. In the midst of this glittery rubbish, however, is the recognizable sound of the universal constant - music. Emotional, visceral, sacred. The chaotic compendium of a lost civilization held together by lines of recognizable melody, lyric and song. Layers of complimentary instrumentation heaped upon the land fill of another planet's pop-culture. The musical samples are from the band Pink Floyd. The commercials and comedy and drama are the collective effort of 70 years of human endeavor in broadcasting.
As the two moons of your planet compete for space in the frame of your window, you lay back on your bed, amazed at the creativity of the these creatures hundreds of light years from your own world, and call your new discovery "The Floydian Propulsion Project."

On Making The Floydian Propulsion Project (The Artistic Electronica of Pink Floyd/3rd Edition)
"I was inspired to experiment with electronica...to mold these pieces using various shades of trance music, dance music, catchy-grooves, progressions, psychedelia, and conceptual art-based music. All-the-while maintaining a marginal pop-music structure.
As an obsessed Pink Floyd fan, I had everything of theirs. So I went to the next level; I studied Pink Floyd as if it were a subject in college. Then I started experimenting by combining computers and music, and Pink Floyd naturally fell in-between the two. What started as a few demos turned into a full blown quest to make a Pink Floyd remix album. I experimented and experimented, and kept what was really cool. I tried many things many different ways, and got some friends involved in parts of it. I ran into many learning-curve road blocks, such as the art of mastering, but in time overcame them. The 1st edition was 50 limited numbered CD's that I handed out to my friends and family. The positive feedback from those 50 gave me the inspiration to polish it up and make the 2nd edition - 200 copies. Those who got the 2nd edition gave me such great feedback that I had to release it to the masses... Polished it to perfection, and that's what is available now, the 3rd Edition.
I invite you to take an extended stay when listening to this disc. Ensure you are comfortable at all levels... make certain that your mind is at ease. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the sounds."

"Like all of the finest things on earth, there is an acquired taste to this music. However, your first listen will stimulate your subconscious to yearn for more.
An open-mind will find there is much more to this album than entertainment. Even the most basic interest in Pink Floyd will provoke thought... in turn, yielding a taste in the art of all that is Floydian..."

Floydhead
author: Tim KozuskoI was pleasantly surprised by this CD. Well done to the artists, well worth it!
Love at First Listen
author: John R Smith JrI love every track on this album except the first one. Somehow, the scratching and rapping in that first track just don't fit. I made a CD without the first track and I love it. It's in heavy daily rotation on my CD changer. So glad I stumbled on it. So, skip that first track and dig an amazing dance extension to the Pink Floyd sound. Floydian Propulsion, indeed!!!
Take a stress pill and Get Floyded
author: HAL9000As a self confessed Pink Floyd freak, this CD did not disappoint. I also happen to like a bit of techno but this is a beautiful blend of Floyd and techno, that should also appeal to the space cadets and juvenile types with its inclusion of 'classic lines' from 2001, Simpsons, Ace Ventura and so on. In short, it is great tool for exploring that fine line between sanity and insanity in the fine traditions of Syd - just what do you think you are doing Dave. Enjoy the trip through the wormhole. Signed the Computer - I think I'm losing my mind!

An electronic reworked journey thru Pink Floyd history. Genius!
author: A fan in ScotlandThis CD is for anyone into trance, ambient or any electronica from the original days of Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, Neu, Faust etc all the way up to the Orb and Leftfield. It's a journey thru the back catalogue of Pink Floyd albums with selected tracks reworked with the artists take on how they could have sounded if DJ'd on a club terrace in Ibiza. For me sublime. Try it out......
THE BEST IT GETS !!!!
author: Mark0I Agree with Reviewer-Joseph Croft ALL THE WAY AND THEN SOME MORE!!! THIS CD REALLY BLEW ME AWAY AND I MEAN IT !!!! IT IS VERY WORTH THE PRICE!DO GET IT, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!
Five Stars
author: James DuckworthThis CD is worth 5 stars as far as I’m concerned. I only give 4 or 5 stars. When I was young my mother said that if you do not have anything good to say then don’t say nothing at all. So, if I buy a CD and I am sorry I did that…my response is to not rate it at all. If I am glad I got it I give it 4 stars. If I am overjoyed that I bought that CD it gets 5 stars.
21st Century Floyd - great
author: Joseph CroftI have in the past heard the trance remixes of Floyd music. This CD blew them away. Highly recommended.
An understatement to say a masterpiece
author: C. Pierce Jr.Wow, I can't say enough to explain myself in explicit detail on how incredible this project is. You listen to the remixes to untouched original music and additional overlay of sounds and it's like being on an exploratory journey through heaven. This cd is highly recommended. I am kind of sad I can't rate higher than 5 stars, LOL. Sincerely, if you love pink floyd you need this cd. This cd sounds like it should. Thanks Floydhead! This cd is by far the best cd I have ever owned and for insight I have well over 500 cds and many many favorites, but from the moment you press play on this disc it's an instant "oh my" which follows with a giant smile and awe. I can't say enough except thank you so much for your extroadinary artistic abilities.
the 2nd pressing is fantastic. the 3rd must be better.
author: fulch1960the 2nd edition is fantastic. if you are a true pink floyd fan than you must buy the new version 3. the 2nd pressing is the best remix cd that i have heard and i have at least 20 x re mix versions to date by various artists. i would buy this version 3 but it has two x added new tracks only. mayby number 4 if it comes out and has more extra tracks. ??? would someone be so kind as to send me a mp3 of v3 tracks 10. droolling and raving + 19. let there be more so as i can listen to them. david.fulcher@blueyonder.co.uk
You did it!!!
author: MikeI never thought I would hear Floyd with a modern electric sound that has as much history of the band as this cd does. This cd even tests my knowledge of the band and i've been listening and following them for decades. Everytime I listen to it I hear something else that I didnt' catch before. If your a serious Floyd Fan this cd is a must to have in your collection. Great Job and can't wait to hear more

Genius!!!
author: DJ-3DWell, I can't stop listening to it! My hat's off to the creators, I'm glad to see that equal genius went into your remixes as did the original works! You should be very proud of yourselves! I'm planning to mix several trax's into my sets, I'll let you know how the populace reacts. Keep up the good work, I'm sure Pinky would be proud! Peace, Dan DJ3D
Cd is good!
author: PingCD good! Nice Toon! Like Lots! I listen when I have Diarrhea. Almost cured.
A solid, eminently listenable and hugely enjoyable collection
author: Matt Johns - Brain Damage MagazineSince the mid 1990s, there have been a rash of remixes and "ambient" mixes of Pink Floyd work. On the whole, little technical ability or musical thought has gone into them. A bit of echo or boosted bass doesn't make a good remix! But then Floydhead's "Floydian Propulsion Project" arrived at Brain Damage... The project was obviously undertaken by someone with a great knowledge and great love, of Pink Floyd's music. Hidden away amongst the lush soundscape are obscure oddities and gems from the band's recorded history, melded together in a fascinating, and refreshing, way. Whilst, as I say, may remix projects add little to the original songs, Seth and the rest of the Floydhead crew have really gone to town, with the originals acting just as a starting point, using their own instrumentation along with samples and snippets that are so clean, it's as if they had access to the master tapes... impressive stuff. This is the latest iteration (version 3) of the album, which has been polished and augmented with new sounds and new tracks... so owners of previous versions might still be interested in getting hold of this one. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track one sets the scene with Heartbeat, Pigmeat given a more contemporary feel, adding in dialog from Tonite Let's All Make Love In London. Hey You follows, is given the club treatment, and apart from a loop of David Gilmour's vocal, is hardly recognisable. Any Colour You Like is given a polish and a 21st century flavour whilst keeping its core and unique sound. Is There Anybody Out There has a mournful menace and thankfully keeps the wonderful acoustic guitar and strings of the original - one of the definate stand-out tracks. Another Brick part 1 follows, and seems to have much more of a kick than the original. Next up, Terminal Frost, and like the 1987 version, is the least interesting track on the album. An unusual choice for the project, as well... Moving on to one of three very short, sub-1 minute tracks found here - One Of My Days, which updates in great style the rapid tuning through those 13 channels of shit, followed by a skillful meld of New Machine, Empty Spaces, and Welcome To The Machine. Any album using a sample of The Muppets' "Pigs In Space" has to be a winner, and what better way of kicking off Pigs On The Wing? A nice, extended version, akin to the 8-track version with Snowy White. Effervescing elephants, division bells, several small creatures, and much more, kick off Drooling and Raving, which owes more to Echoes and Embryo than anything else. A track with absolutely loads of different Floyd songs in it - how many can you spot? A great, atmospheric Signs Of Life follows, with a surprise addition at the end that works well. Two Suns In The Sunset starts in a conventional way then enjoys some complementary guitar work before merging into the tabla driven If. The heavy Indian feel takes the track into a fascinating new direction. A bit of Pink Anderson leads to Keep Talking, with different Stephen Hawking dialogue and a kicking beat, and quickly becomes hard to recognise from the original, with ethereal bits of the familiar version drifting in the background. Several Small Species... - now surely with the officially longest song title ever (see below) - gets an update, and throws elements of early and late period Floyd songs in the mix. "All pretty avand-gard really"... There's a fairly cheesy keyboard opener to Have A Cigar - and with the vocoder vocals, for me, one of the more dispensible tracks present. The album concludes with Obscured By Clouds and Let There Be More Light. ...Light gets a very short outing before a muzak version of Ticket To Ride sings out, in a nod to the end of Dark Side Of The Moon. Obscured, from the eponymous album (a sadly overlooked part of the band's canon) gets treated to some echo and some Jarre-esque electronica, without spoiling the feel of the track. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A solid, eminently listenable and hugely enjoyable collection - the amount of time and effort Seth and the other Floydheads have put into it is evident. It certainly bears repeated playings well - if only to spot the bits you missed in the first place! The album is a real homage to the Floyd's musicality, imagination and variety. It's one that we'll be playing in years to come, and we are sure you will too!
Worth twice the price!!
author: DymondSky ReviewsThis CD is wiggily! Probably one of the best CDs I've listened to for a long time. Good to scrump to, and those low-end beats make for a massage in the car next to the toob. I recommend this to anyone!
Floydhead rocks the ox more than a hotchuck puppet!!
author: HainkmGREAT CD! Floydhead takes the already funkdafied soundings of Pink Floyd with a uber-modern twist to conger up this melodrama-mix of trace tunes, while maintaining the originality of the roots of the music. No matter what your stance on today's music might be, this is sure to please a wide range of Floyd fans...from the ones that remember when the came together, to the ones discovering for the first time...
Knocked me crazy!
author: Percy HazelwoodI can't take this thing out of my player! So many layers of sound, so many cool riffs and lots of pop culture references. You get sucked into the mix and marvel at all the cool samples. I don't know if the guys in Pink Floyd have heard this, but I bet they'd love it.
