This eighth full-length release by Floater contains fourteen new songs and a behind-the-scenes DVD capturing moments from the band’s nearly fourteen years together.

Continually pushing the boundaries of modern rock, Floater flexes their creative muscle by bringing guitarist Dave Amador’s stylish, effect-laden tracks front and center on this latest release. Drummer Pete Cornett’s well-known tribal beats and singer/bassist Rob Wynia’s percussive bass tracks provide the strong rhythms that keep the band in touch with their early sound as guitarist Amador stretches his wings. Wynia’s intelligent, emotional lyrics tell new tales of human relationships with the passion and power that has become one of the trademarks of this renowned Northwest trio.

    While this version of Floater has gone in a different direction than earlier versions, one thing remains constant--Floater kicks ass! I had the pleasure of hearing about half of the album live while the guys were still in the recording phase and the new music blew me away even then. You really owe it to yourself to buy this one. Great stuff! :)

    I love Floater, but I wasnt as happy with this album as I have been in the past. Nothing on this album pops up as amazing to me and I think the recording was a little half-assed. These songs are definitely better live and I will continue to support this band until they or myself dies.

  • Floater's Most Accessable, and possibly best album yet

    I have been a fan ever since I saw Floater live in Chico, California for the release of their second CD "Glyph". A friend of mine at work had been singing their praises for about 2 months prior, and seeing them live just solidified the fact that they were an incredible band. Over the years I have loved every album for the artistry present, but was fully aware that many who listened felt that half the tracks on most albums really stood out, while the rest stayed in the background, overshadowed by the more accessable tracks on the album. With "Stone By Stone", Floater has crafted their most accessable album yet, each song could easily be a hit on the radio, but still does not lose the heart and soul that make the band. It's still Floater, but it's much more restrained and refined, and the result is a CD that you can listen to over and over again. You will be hard pressed to pick a favorite on this CD, as all of the songs are just flat out amazing.

    Wow. So, my boyfriend is a HUGE Floater fan...has been since their beginning. Their new CD was a Christmas present, but he got it a couple weeks early because he was whining about not having it yet. The CD is awesome. He has played it non-stop since he got it and has even downloaded it onto his iPod so he can listen at work. This is his favorite CD yet. Stone by Stone is badass. My favorite Floater CD to date, and his. Thanks!

    Stone By Stone is yet another great album from a great band. My wife turned me on the Floater seven years ago and quickly became my "go to band". What I mean by that is, just as Pink Floyd has a song for every phase in your journey through this life, Floater's music has been there for me, and relates to our lifes ups, downs, joys, and sadness. I highly recommend you inviting Floater into your life.

    My wife and I "discovered" Floater about 2 years ago, and since then they've grown to become just about our favorite band. We saw the McDonald Theatre CD release show for Stone by Stone and, honestly, we were somewhat tepid, then, in our receptivity. We thought it was a great album (like all Floater releases) but nowhere near what they are capable of. That was then... After paying a number of close listens now, we've totally changed our attitude and put Stone by Stone second only to Sink (which we view as a "perfect" album, on par with Dark Side of the Moon). Stone by Stone is a very mature effort, very subtle in its sophistication. To my mind the album is a bit of a departure, in the sense that there is far less this time in the way of the expansive "soundscape" style of presentation. This one relies more on somewhat austere (yet intricate) arrangements. The obvious homages to the Police, U2, Black Sabbath, and (generally) later-era "classic rock" are spot-on and simply wonderful. And, as much as I hate to associate the term "feel good song" with a band like Floater, there are definately some moments on Stone by Stone that conspire to bring forth that sort of impulsive, Frampton-esque positive vibe (even in the midst of relatively dark subject-matter). This is one of those albums that builds a better rapport with every listen.

    The best Floater album since Burning Sosobra! While not quite as dark and cynical as Angels In the Flesh or Sink, this is a Floater that has matured in a good way. Some of the songs seem slightly more optimistic and yet contain a caution toward that very optimism. Rob's vocals have never sounded better. These songs cover some of the same themes as some of their earlier ones, but with a more mature perspective. This is an incredible CD--Don't miss out on this one!

    stone by stone is an awesome package it comes with a DVD which makes you feel like you are hanging out with the band. The music is absolutly amazing well produced and you can crank it up and it gets into your bones. Buy IT
