BIOGRAPHY

Since an early age music has been a big part in Ian's life, first learning guitar from his Dad then recording humble tracks in his bedroom on a two deck tape recorder with some cheap keyboard effects and makeshift percussion instruments as well as playing in bands with his school friends. As he got older and started to get hit by electronic and dance music he started using samplers, drum machines, turntables, plus anything he and his mates could bring together to make tracks. These tracks would lay the foundations for the way he produces today using a computer-based setup.

The Flexuous sound falls mostly into the house genre but expect to hear down tempo and more freeform tracks as well as anything else between. He prefers to try and take new directions with each track he makes, using different techniques, ideas and learning something new; trying to avoid a formula for his sound but hoping to allow a sound signature to develop more intuitively and naturally.

Look out for Ian's other projects; Tsubo Soul - an alternative funk band/producer collective, and Homegroove Project - an electronic/live collaboration based around a soulful down tempo style. Ian also performs DJ sets, as well as live guitar sets where he plays freestyle alongside other DJ's at various club nights and venues around Birmingham/UK.

THE LABEL

ILR began as a a digital-ONLY Techno/House Record Label based in Melbourne (Australia) in January 2004 amidst the growing trend towards paid digital download music distribution. All ILR release's are available through various outlets, including Juno Digital, Beatport, DJ Download, 3 Beat Digital, Magnetic Grooves, Resonant Vibes, Audio Jelly, Track It Down, Click Groove, and Release Records. Also, courtesy of the Internet Online Distribution Alliance (IODA) the ILR catalog is available on more mainstream or commercial outlets such as Audio Lunchbox, MusicMatch, MusicNow, Napster, Rhapsody, Sony Connect, and many more. Being one of the first to embrace this new model of distribution, the ILR network of distributors has now grown into one of the largest of any label in the world.

Just like any other label releasing 12-inch vinyl or any other format, ILR promotes it's music to select club/radio djs, cd/mp3 record pools, dance music magazines, online websites, messageboards, newsgroups, and mailing lists. At the same time, the label puts a lot of focus on artist career development. That is, through continuously seeking opportunites or collaborations that will open new doors in the industry for each individual on the label artist roster. Many of those already signed to the label have since gone on to release music on other labels, work on remix projects, as well as gaining dj/live performance bookings. Artists already signed to the label come from various countries across the world, including Australia, USA, Canada, UK, Norway, Portugal, and Italy.

In 2005, ILR branched out and developed 2 new projects. Firstly, an mp3 promo service - the Infamous Record Pool. A service that enables independent labels to get valuable and affordable real-time feedback on their latest releases through digital music promotion. The Infamous Record Pool has since received support from of some of the world's top labels and DJs. The second project was the Infamous Podcasts - a series of dj sets made available on the internet through the utilisation of the latest trend of online blogging and podcasting.

In 2006, after 10 releases in the digital domain, comprising various singles and EPs, ILR released it's first full-length album on CD.
