Album Notes

A passion for creating exciting, musical arrangements as well as the desire to perform together is the insppiration for the Pannings to form their string band, FiddleFire. This group specializes in a variety of music including classical to driving fiddle tunes. Their diverse instrumentation includes fiddles, guitar, string bass, mandolin, hammer dulcimer, and percussion via spoons, bones, djembe, and Eve\'s dancing feet. Teen siblings Luke, Eve, and Josiah all began classical instruction in strings and piano at age 6. In addition, folk musicians and fiddlers from around the country mentored and taught improvisation skills. The classical, Appalachian, Celtic, and folk music roots of their chldhood all have contributed to their own unique blend and style. Luke, Eve, and Josiah are all members of the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony. They have participated in and have won numberous awards in both classical concerto competitions as well as fiddling genres which have provided them with opportunities to perform as soloists in varied venues such as with an orchestra or at the Weiser, Idaho National Fiddling Competition. The Pannings have recently released their third CD, \"Playin\' With Fire\". Says Rodney Miller, master fiddler and author of many fiddle tunes, \"I was blown away to hear my tune, CLOUD NINE, played fantastically....complete with harmonies and all klinds of creative touches...and I quickly realized the entire CD was like that. Congratulations to all of you for an ebullient, energetic, and creative CD that captures the essence of contra dance/fiddle music.\" The musical and life experiences the Pannings have enjoyed together have resulted in a finely tuned performance group.
