notes
In 1997, live bands with original writing, honest vocals and a fresh sound were hard to find and scarcely recorded. Inspired by this void, a small trio in Baltimore started documenting their vision of soulful jazz. Initially recorded to be a demo, Field Songs would hold a glimpse of the unique blend of integrity, style, and lyricism which have come to define this now internationally popular group.
With access to high-end digital 24-bit recording and a clearer sonic vision, we've been inspired to revisit this classic debut recording. By combining the original performance with vocal enhancement and state-of-the-art mastering, we have produced an amazing new addition to the Fertile Ground catalog. This recording, although tastefully varied from the original, holds newly released takes and a fresh sound to the record that started it all.

Fertile Ground is one of the hottest groups out there. I hope they will keep on doing what they are doing in the music world.
Cotton & Sugar Cane
author: Lady Kiki CTake a trip that's lush and sweet...(FG) is sure to make the trip serene. This time when you revisit the fields you will see that the cotton has been plucked clean so you can lay on it and stretch out (the music)--tear of a piece of sugar cane and taste the liquid sugar (Navasha's voice)....look out across the fields and know that it's time for the harvest cause they've tilled the soil...Enjoy the Bounty of their harvest. --Eat till your hearts content-Enjoy the Sound!!!

Amazing Album
author: Richard Rawlings - Music Choice MagFertile Ground continues to be miles beyond most bands in terms of musicianship and consistancy. This album is a beautiful remastering of the underground classic album Field Songs. Each track sucks you deeper and deeper into blisss. A must have for the true soul/jazz music lover.
