notes
Fellé Vega is a well respected Dominican musician of twenty five years plus, who critics have called no less than a "music wizard" when describing his musicianship.
The things that give Fellé Vega his most unique trait is the ability to make music from normal ordinary objects of day to day life, such as buckets, lids, and pots. This ability and talent, takes you from a Jazz group, on to something that cannot be held down with a label or a description; and truly needs to be heard to be fully appreciated
This craftsman of rhythms and varied instruments exhibits in his music a strong ethnic fusion that is the result of the African, Spanish and Taino influence ever-present in the Caribbean.
Devoted to finding "the sound of life," Fellé has distinguished himself by his experimentation with recyclable materials and everyday objects that have percussive possibilities, which he then turns into musical instruments.
"La Orquestra de Las Danzas Mezcladas" born two years ago and has many proven Dominican musicians, such as Oscar Almonte on guitar, José Marte on accordion;Ivanova Casimiro on violin, Eugenio Monte de Oca on tuba, Eliezer Ramirez, Cukin Curiel on percussion and Fellé Vega on direction and percussion.
When describing his musicianship,The music of Felle Vega, and his group, is varied to say the least; taking in many styles and instruments so that you just do not know quite what to expect next! Or, possibly; quite where the sounds could have come from.
From guitars that will move you, to violins that will twist you back and forth, and through to percussion that will have you tapping a foot even to the more downbeat and deeper songs; this is an album that will make you feel it has something from possibly everywhere. Drawing feelings from such influences as African, Spanish, Taino, the Oriental, and of course Dominican folklore - you feel like you are learning about the backgrounds and past of these locations purely by listening to the songs.
This orquestra has performed in most of the important Jazz Festivals on the Island and many private and public concerts , the most recently one was the openning for Sting as a part of his "Broken music tour" at Altos de Chavon, Dominican Republic.

they're great!!!
author: Nicole FonsecaI just heard it right here at Baby CD, & it was one of the greatest musical discoveries listening to Felle Vega. Funny thing is that I'm Colombian & my husband Dominican & neither one has ever heard them. Just tell them they are great among the greatests!
A intoxicating music, that many will love.
author: Jose Bisono Jr.An intoxicating music, in the percussionist style, with folkloric rhythyms and a mix of sounds that transport you to the islands. The music touches you and brings a sense that you are floating away. As a fellow Dominican I feel proud to know that such a talent has arrived. I invite ever body to buy this beautiful music.
Retreta para el alma-JazzWorldQuest Review
author: JazzWorldQuestRecorded live, Fellé Vega's CD "Retreta Para El Alma" captures the freshness and spontaneity of his warm, colorful music where Dominican folk, and improvisation are mixed with distinctive refinement. This CD is far from exotic cliches or "Latin" hits: Fellé Vega and his band preserved the original authenticity and spirit of sources without losing creativity along the way. The fusion of voices, violin, accordion, tuba, guitar and percussion work as one, the balance of sonorities is masterfully crafted. Fellé Vega's percussion poetry on this compelling album.

Congrats to Felle & group, & encouragement to continue to produce, and create such a marvelous musical compositions. I was born in D.R. but has more than 20 year in the States & didn't know anything about it. It'll be one one my very first recommendations to my anglo & latin friends. Keep up the good work!
