notes

FDR is the alter-ego of acclaimed songwriter Felix McTeigue under which he emarked on, and created, what is The New Deal.

This 3 CD set was born in the fall of 2005 when I began the daunting adventure of digging myself out of a creative rut by simultaneously writing and recording 50 songs in 50 days - one song a day. From my bedroom apartment on Avenue C - overlooking the FDR drive, the east river, and the lighted city skyline - I stubbornly completed a new song each night between the dates October 14th and Dec. 9th 2005 (with a few days off). Often recording until dawn, I played all the instruments - drums, bass, guitars, piano, organ, and sang the multitude of vocals and harmonies. Of the resulting 50 self-produced songs, 32 of the these songs comprise this collection. If you play it loud in your car, headphones, or stereo you might even hear the ambulances, buses, and traffic roaring by on the FDR drive. - FDR, May 17th 2006, NYC

  • Undiscovered Brilliance
    author: Brent Long

Ever since I wandered onto one of FDR's MySpace profiles, I've been quite taken with his music. It was similar enough to some of my other favorite musicians to catch my interest, yet it's undoubtedly distinct. And the one man in his apartment quality to everything works so perfectly for everything. The music is definitely that of a genius artist, yet McTeigue seems like your average relateable guy.

  • Absolutely loved it.

This is a perfect summer soundtrack. The music is catchy, the lyrics are pretty straightforward, and some of the songs are just brilliant. I haven't taken it out of my car stereo since I got it! It's completely worth it to invest in this set!
