"Many have tried to fly the flag of the singer/songwriter angle over the years. Yet only voices like Toronto's Courtney Farquhar have the aptitude to pull it off..." --CG, Soundproof Magazine (Feb.06)

Courtney's song writing abilities began very early on when, at five, she wrote a song about the beauty of colours and at 7 wrote about love lost and heartbreak! Needless to say, she had a great imagination and an incredible ear for melody.

It was always very clear to Courtney that becoming a professional singer/songwriter was without question her destiny. "There were definitely times of confusion, you know, seeing your close friends becoming lawyers and doctors, but, with a little help and a lot perseverance, I knew that music was the only choice for me - the only thing that I could do for the rest of my life that would make me truly happy". And that's what Courtney is doing!

At 26, Courtney is writing songs with a maturity that captures listeners. The release of her song "That's What Happens" on Warner's 'Women and Songs 7' was a great start to her success. Now with the release of her debut EP, 'All My Friends Are Superheroes', Courtney continues to turn heads with her intriguing lyrics and electrifying live performances.

  • Lost.Not Likely! A Terrific Debut EP.
    author: Cecilia Pattison-Levi(BMA Magazine)

This is a terrific debut EP from Canadian independent singer songwriter Courtney Farquhar. This EP has six terrific songs from bubblegum tunes of lost friends to in-depth ballads wondering about the world and the wind - the things of life that you can’t hide from. The sound of the EP is sophisticated pop infused with folk and alt-country. The songs ‘Lost’, ‘Real Thing' and ‘All Me Friends Are Superheroes’ sound like a songwriter discovering and writing about the life she is seeing around her. Her songs are asking the big questions about life like why does history repeat itself, the spaces between and finding the real thing. The stand out track is ‘We Are’ a beautiful pop track with a great gentle guitar sound. This is an EP really worth tracking down and this will reward the discerning listener. Terrific!
