notes
"An insanely, entertaining pop-rock band!" - C-ville Weekly
The brainchild of Lance Brenner of The Naked Puritans, the Falsies feature the uber-talented Lance on songwriting duty and drums, an especially unhinged Peter Markush (a.k.a. Mark Rock of the Marzaks) on lead vocals, the unbelievably lovely Jessi Giannini on bass, and the surprisingly maniacal Josh Davis on guitar.
If you find yourself in the embarrassing position of being sans Falsies, then use this recipe until you get your hands on the real fake things:
2 cups of the amateurish cacophony of the Velvet Underground and The Shags
1 cup of the catchy quirk of They Might Be Giants
6 oz of the camp of Devo and the Cramps
one big handful of the street theater strut of the New York Dolls
2 tablespoons of the cracked humor of King Missile
A dash of the party band atmosphere of B52s
A sprinkling of White Album era John Lennon compositions a’la Glass Onion
A teaspoon of the Lovin’ Spoonful

struck lo-fi gold!
author: John KristovThis is a kick-ass CD. It's very weird but in a cool way. The playing is low-fi but it doesn't sound like crap. Some of it sounds like early Sonic Youth with better production. And the songs are funny as f*ck. Lyrics are great, the guy singer is great. Highly recommended!! Get it.
