notes
The saxophone was an accidental love. I started playing at the young age of 13, when my junior high school teacher asked me to choose a band instrument. I can recall only trying the saxophone mouthpiece and getting that tone out of it. I just knew that it felt right. I made up my mind right there that I was going to play the sax. A few years later I moved on to high school and started to play jazz, I really loved the musical freedom in comparison to the more regimented classics; which I also played at the time.
A few years after becoming a Christian, an old friend asked me if I would like to join their band as part of the horn section. Thus was my introduction to the field of gospel music ministries. My time with “FAITH UNLIMITED” was a lot of fun. Especially when we ended up as one of the opening acts for the wonderful Pastor Shirley Caesar.
Over the years I have had the pleasure of ministering with different artists, from country and western, to jazz, to funk to fusion. I have played banquets and weddings, on the back of a trailer in a parade; at the infamous Eaton Centre here in Canada (as part of street ministries with Love and Faith ministries) I have even played at a union event. All in all it’s been a lot of fun.
I currently worship at one of the largest churches here in Canada, and am a member of the band playing the bass guitar on Sundays. This helps me to foster a deeper love for music and the awesome power it holds to heal the heart, mend the soul and take us to that place that transcends imagination.
As a current member of Tongues of Fire (T.O.F.), I enjoy going to what ever opportunity is presented for the group. God Bless and Enjoy.
