notes

HOWLIN’ AT THE MOON was recorded, mixed & mastered in Nashville during late October, 2007 and produced by Evan Westerlund & Larry Marrs (longtime member of Marty Stuart's Hillbilly Band). It features some outstanding session musicians, inclusive Drums & Percussion: Steve Holland (Ray Price, Charlie Daniels Band, Anita Cochrane, Mila Mason) - Bass, Harmony Vocals, Acoustic Guitar: Larry Marrs (Marty Stuart, George Jones, Martina McBride, Ricochet, Tracy Byrd) - Electric Guitars: James Mitchell (Dierks Bentley, Brooks & Dunn, Terri Clark) - Pedal Steel: Robby Turner (Dixie Chicks, Waylon Jennings, Travis Tritt, Gary Allan), Piano & Keyboards: Garland Craft (Oak Ridge Boys, T. Graham Brown, Bellamy Brothers) - Dobro & Harmonica: Mike Douchette (Alabama, Tammy Wynette, George Jones) - Fiddle: Kim Marrs (Nashville String Kings).

HOWLIN’ AT THE MOON is a collection of 12 songs from an extensive library written & co-written by Evan. His writing style is one of story songs with a lot of visual landscape about people, places, situations, love, pain, and the whole damn thing. “My ambition is to write the perfect song...one that reels you in from first breath and note to last, and causes you to hit the start button again, and again, and again...” Whether any of the songs become a commercial success or not, is really not what is driving Evan’s actions as a writer/performer. It is simply a passion for writing songs that didn’t exist before & for those songs to reach their audience. “For me it’s more a matter of – when people hear a song, do they appreciate it enough to hear it again, or tell somebody about it.”

Influences: The Eagles, Poco, Steve Miller, April Wine, Dire Straits, Bob Seger, Dolly Parton, Marty Stuart, Travis Tritt, Johnny Cash, Vince Gill, Rodney Crowell, Kevin Welch, Dwight Yoakam, Radney Foster, Dierks Bentley, Buddy Miller & Chris Night.
