notes
In 1999, Achim Roedelius - one of the original pioneers of German electronic music as part of the band Cluster - did a solo tour of the USA. He performed live on some dates and spent time in the studio recording together as well with one of the USA's top electronic musicians Tim Story (who has had several releases on the Hearts of Space and Windham Hill labels over the years). THE PERSISTENCE OF MEMORY is the recorded result of that musical collaboration, and it's fascinating.
Consisting of one long piece 55:57 minutes in length it goes through a variety of musical moods. There are influences present form each persons solo works, but the overall fusion of these musical elements results in a more surreal, ambient/symphonic work than either of them has done individually. Enchanting melodies waft in and out of the mix as multi-layers of dense synthetics; spatial arrangements and exotic sonic embellishments combine to form a very special piece of music.
"THE PERSISTENCE OF MEMORY" WAS ISSUED IN A LIMITED EDITION OF ONLY 400 NUMBERED/SIGNED CDs, AND LESS THAN 100 ADDITIONAL "ARTIST PROOF" CD's, ALSO SIGNED BY THE ARTISTS. THE CD's FOR SALE HERE ARE FROM THE "ARTIST PROOF" SERIES, SIGNED BY BOTH STORY AND ROEDELIUS, AND ARE NOW OUT OF PRINT. AVAILABLE ONLY WHILE THEY LAST!
