“Oh yeah, the boy can play”
-Fayetteville Observer
Ethan Hanson is a young singer / songwriter with an old soul. His first appearance, at the tender age of ten years old, was at the Dogwood Festival in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Ethan grew up in Fayetteville, and has played with some of the area’s finest musicians. His style is most easily defined as acoustic rock, mixed with blues and jazz voicing, and a good measure of soul. His songs contain a universal message for the collective social conscious and the human experience.
Ethan’s usual gig is an acoustic-based show, blending his insightful and catchy originals with a wide array of popular sing-along covers. Mitra Maraj, a long time friend of Ethan’s, accompanies him with hand percussion. Ethan has also played with The Guy Unger Phaxtion, a local band with a more classic rock feel. He has appeared live on 91.9 FM’s local artist showcase a couple of times since 2004, and was on the opening line up for the Hootie and the Blowfish concert at the 2006 Fayetteville Dogwood Festival.
Since mid-2005, Ethan has been building a local following, playing at coffee houses, restaurants and pubs. Now, at seventeen years old, he is excited to be releasing his first professional recording. “ALIVE”, a highly anticipated release, captures the true essence of Ethan’s live shows; the listener may feel like they are sitting in the front row themselves. With this album, Ethan hopes to reach a wider fan base with his voice and message, taking them along on his musical journey.
