notes
Jazz standards, a blues song (I Left My Baby) and Shubert's classical Ave Maria are performed by a baritone/tenor voice with the exceptional musical sound of the Will Scruggs Jazz Quartet, with brilliant saxophone and guitar solos in the jazz and blues songs featuring saxophone, guitar, bass and drum arrangements by a distinguished and rapidly rising jazz ensemble.
Girl from Ipanema includes an interesting vocal and saxophone duet during the bridge.
There is a lovely classical performance of Ave Maria - one of the few versions that is true to the Shubert composition - by Sid Wolf on the guitar with Elliott as the vocalist.
The styling of the vocals and instrumentals is so versatile that you can get the impression that each song was performed by a different vocalist and different musicians. Among the seven songs, 4 different keys are used.
Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Will Scruggs developed the vocal and instrumental arrangements. He plays the saxophone with the legendary skill that enabled him to be voted best college jazz player in Georgia and Alabama, and he was the first student to graduate from the prestigious Emory University with honors in jazz performance.
