BIO
San Franciscan Elaine Romanelli traveled to New York City in May of 2006 for the Broadway run of Tony Kushner and Maurice Sendak’s high-profile collaboration, BRUNDIBAR. She liked the town so much she moved there.
SONGWRITING
Lyrical and sincere, Elaine’s style on Better By Far is an amalgam of compelling storytelling and beautiful singing – and a pinch of sass; Sarah McLachlin meets Tina Fey.
If you like direct, intimate, sometimes lusty and sometimes introspective lyrics, and a clear, pure voice, then you will completely fall for Elaine’s music.
If you like screaming, thrash metal, and a totally bleak outlook on life, then we doubt you’re gonna like this album.

Move over Judi and Joni, Elaine has got what it takes!
author: Matthew Mattei"Better By Far" is full of variety, story, fine music and lyrics and energy. Whether it's folk, blues, or pop, Elaine Romanelli has got it. Her melodies and lyrics soar along with her weightless vocals that just float above the music. One listen and you will be hooked. Go Elaine!
Look Out, Diana Krall
author: Robert NickelThis is far and away the best CD ever written and performed by someone I know. (Sorry, Rob Whitlock and Dave Wu.) If you buy this CD, perhaps someday Elaine will become famous. Then I can parlay my scandalous college stories into a sort of borrowed notoriety, and become a C-Level celebrity in my own right. So buy this CD. My future vicarious fame depends upon it!
Creates its own subgenre of jazz, folk, pop and showtunes
author: Drew Pearce, contributing writer for Acoustic Guitar magazineBetter By Far is that rare kind of record that creates its own subgenre, its own niche in the corner of the musical universe that exists in nooks between jazz, folk, pop and showtunes. Romanelli has a powerhouse voice that employs operatic flourishes on some songs, while other songs are bluesy showcases of sass and wit. If you have a weakness for any combination of Ella Fitzgerald, Bette Midler and Shawn Colvin, this is the record for you.
