notes
The hard penetrating, self-reflective vocals of this MC poignantly illustrate that true school hip hop is alive and well. Born in the Midwest, raised in Maryland, and schooled in the business in NYC, E Reece is unlike any artist you have ever heard or seen. This talented and hard-working lyricist, songwriter, poet, and musician keeps your attention at every turn and will make you challenge yourself. His music speaks of love, life, and staying true to yourself.
His love of music began when he began to study jazz saxophone at age 12. His early influences include Michael Jackson, Prince, Charlie Parker, Gerry Mulligan, and later A Tribe Called Quest, KRS-1, EPMD and other east coast artists. He began to develop his own style in high school, when he started freestyling with his boys. Later he would hone his skills at open mic nights and any cipher he could get in, most notably with the legendary KRS-1 and BET’s ex-Rap City host Tigger at the 930 Club in DC in 1999. A love for hip hop has developed into a promising career, with growing success on the underground level from MD to NYC to LA, where he currently resides.
E Reece brings you "Organic Hip Hop" to feed your mind, body and souls with no additives or preservatives. E has worked with fellow LA underground MCs Jamal, Crag Malkovich (Gershwin BLX), Abnormal (Handroids), Universal, Two B, and Fat Hed, Michigan transplants NowOn and Buff1, Arizona up and comer Ill Al, alternative singer Rosey; producers Nocturnal Ron, Leggo (Dakah), Tycoon, T.i.M, The Beat Ventriloquists, Brian Boland, DJ Haircut (Lab Techs), Proh Mic, DJ Mark1, Cordovan and DJ Soups; soul singer extraordinaire Sy Smith and male R&B singers & LA natives Hilsyde & Mateo, to name a few.
He’s blazed the stage several times at The Temple Bar in Santa Monica, CA and has become an extended family member at the legendary "Root Down” LA’s #1 hip hop weekly. He’s performed at numerous clubs and schools across the globe and the country, opening for and playing alongside such artists as Brand Nubian, Black Sheep, DJ Babu, Rich Medina, Jneiro Jarel, LA Symphony, Medusa and others. His music has been licensed to film, televison and video games. He’s also performed in London on Nicci Cheeks’ 97.9FM and on GaiaLive.com, in LA on "Grab Tha Mic" on MusicPlusTV.com and on KPFK 90.7FM, as well as having his music played on numerous other independent and college radio stations across the country. He’s featured on Lyricist Lounge’s latest mixtape entitled “The Legendary Lyricist Lounge International Mixtape Series Vol. 1.”
So check out this multi-talented brother and his live band "Core Elements" (a revolving door of dope musicians from LA and beyond on guitar, bass, drums, keys and featuring DJ Soups), who mix new school hip hop, east coast wisdom, and west coast love of life. His music transcends all cultures, and with a love for rhyming that’s deeply rooted in the essence of the genre, it’s going to be hard to stop his star from rising. “ Once they’ve heard my music or seen my live show, I want people to believe in the power of positive music and to know that real hip hop isn’t dead.” His new LP due out fall of '08 will feature his band Core Elements and is entitled "L.I.S.n 2 This Live.In.Studio." He provides a breath of fresh air in a smog-infested industry. He’s E Reece and he’s not for the fake. All sucka MC’s beware!

Real Hip-Hop
author: Erik W.I've been going to see E Reece's shows for the past two years and he never disappoints. His rhymes are from the heart, real, and necessary in a time of so much radio rap bullshit. Just copped the CD, it's dope-tastic, and that's my word.
In appreciation
author: Hip Hop Lover, MDJust wanted to say "thank you" for dropping some rhymes on your CD that make me think and bob my head at the same time. Intelligence is the key to powerful, meaningful, long lasting, successful hip hop music. Not only are your beats on point your words are crazy! These "rappers" out here today get play on the radio with some aight bootie popping beats but their lyrics are seriously lacking true talent. I appreciate your true talent, mind altering head nodding music.
Not the Ordinary
To be perfectly honest i don't ordinarily listen to rap or hip hop,but i really enjoyed this CD. I think that's when you know an album is good...GREAT when you can bring people who normally don't listen and convert them (like myself) into TRUE hip hop fan. Thanks to this CD my musical world has opened up!
Making the old school new!
author: FADERReece has more delivery than a pizza man! He's dropping some on my next project fo sho. ONE!
IT'S ABOUT TIME!!
I've been waiting a long time to hear some REAL hip hop. It's about time I get to hear a true hip hop artist rapping about life, love, music and not fantasy or bullshit. I'm looking forward to hearing more from this artist.
True pioneer of hip-hop! Not afraid to take chances...
author: SyberE Reece is a true pioneer of hip-hop! He's not afraid to take chances with words, sounds and thoughts; creating an original musical set. A must-hear and a must-see (if you can catch him live!)...
E Reece delivers solid hip hop to the masses without compromising himself.
author: Marcus Gray - Jointz MagazineE Reece rides with an elegant grit on this debut EP. Conscious artistic flow to move the tainted heads. This is hip hop, honest and innovative. With songs like "Got Love," dedicated to his mother and father and party jointz like "La Di Da," my man spits with a maturity and vision rare and refreshing. A local talent who can often be found blessing crowds at Santa Monica's Temple Bar, E Reece doesn't mind paying them dues. With an energizing live show and beats to break any beat connisouier, E is ready for what's next. Crowning tracks like a high priest laying lines faultlessly, raising his far eye vision like a flag high in a jolted sky infested with choke and vultures. Ladies and gentlemen I'd like to introduce E Reece; a talent built to blast and definitely one to look out for!
