"We are talking about Buddhist Zen: a spiritual dimension well known to who, like Francioni, when he composes, has the habit to lose himself in nature. Francioni’s music teaches us to reach the state of new attention."

notes

I shall to try to explain, in a few lines, why I have chosen to make this CD. It is difficult for me to do so, because I am not a writer.
I must admit that, since my very first attempts at music, the act of creation has always taken the precedence.
I have a vivid memory of being nearly ten years old and playing and improvising on the 6th metal string, the E grave of the guitar. In the evenings, I sat alone in the stairwell of the dark house, where the vibrations were most sensitive. I was filled with awe by the gravity of the place, of how it was enriched with many other small, strange and hidden sounds. Sounds which I could not explain to myself and which I still find hard to understand. What I loved the most in music, and still do, is the resonance of the sound. I do not believe in pure silence. In fact, it frightens me.

I really think that this sense of mystery has remained in the way I think of the sound, the music and my approach to timbre and silence.
…And then, my intuitions were confirmed when I met my maestro. The only one!

I realized that it was possible to think the music on different ways from the conventional sense. It encouraged me in my very private, personal search.

The making of this CD was almost a violation of this intimate relationship, that I am proud to have with my music.
I do not believe in schools that teach composition! They limit thoughts that need freedom and wide open spaces to wander infinitely. One loses and then finds ones way, perhaps betraying oneself, but the belief is eventually reaffirmed.

I really believe in “love at first sight”. The music conquers you and makes you its “humble slave”.

I am convinced that I have arrived at this point in my life as a natural consequence of all the experiences of my youth.
This CD is the synthesis of about twelve years of work. This period was, on the whole, not very productive (almost arid), but certainly for me, important, intense and strongly motivated…
