notes
If you ever liked any of the great rock records from Seattle, this stands with the best of them, for good reason: Jack himself helped make most of those records. You probably own a few, like Nirvana's "Bleach" or more recent records he's produced by the Makers, Hot Hot Heat, Zeke, Black Halos or Boss Martians. But before the big Seattle hype, Jack was the kickass guitarist for the way-ahead-of-their-time Seattle band Skin Yard, whose bizarre blend of psych, grunge, metal, punk and art rock terrified everyone for five albums, 1985-1992.
Now Wondertaker is proud to present PERMANENT FATAL ERROR, in which Jack Endino the singer/guitarist finally returns, with help from formidable friends like Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees, Mad Season, Skin Yard), Josh Sinder (Accused, TAD, Gruntruck), Alex Sibbald (Accused, Gruntruck), Rob Skinner (Coffin Break) and Pat Pedersen (Skin Yard, Sister Psychic). The sound has been compared with Soundgarden, QOTSA, Alice In Chains, Led Zeppelin, Motorhead and Screaming Trees.

"... The monstrous, guitar-army sounds of Permanent Fatal Error are sure to please loyalists from his days with underground Seattle favorites Skin Yard... Fans will hear echoes of the vintage Seattle sound Endino helped sire, but the great songwriting and utter lack of filler on the nearly hourlong juggernaut make a strong case that the man should be spending more time out from behind the boards with a guitar in his hands." -- Dave Pehling (SF Weekly)
"... No doubt best known for being the man behind the boards of some of the nastiest music to come out of Seattle, Jack Endino has also established himself as a helluva talented guitarist in the psychedelic grunge band Skin Yard and as a solo artist... Anyone looking to get their fix of smart, visceral hard rock, you could hardly do any better than this monster of an album." -- Adem Tepedelen (Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles)
"...Forget all those third-rate grunge ripoffs you hear on the radio. Permanent Fatal Error is the real deal. " -- (All Music Guide)
"...Gritty singing and strong songwriting... No errors here, permanent, fatal or otherwise." -- Michael Toland (High Bias Webzine)
"...This dude invented grunge and he continues to personify it... Very old-school Seattle, deep and guttural and literate and vaguely depressed and brimming with wah-wah and energy. You want a musical education? Then pick this up. But does it rock? DOES IT ROCK? Fuck yeah." -- Everett True (The Stranger)

if it's from jack, you know it's gotta be worthy
author: rich mansorit's got the tone i like, takes a few times to listen to to remember the tunes, songs not quite as catchy as skin yard or gruntruck was, but if you're into loud progressive guitar work, this is right up your alley, and also one for the collection if you're a fan of endino's prior solo works
