Album Notes

Emerald Rose is known as an energetic, exciting four-man ensemble from Georgia performing both traditional and original Celtic-inspired folk rock. Since 1997, the band has been developing a unique sound blending guitar, pennywhistle, pipes, world percussion and harmony vocals that dances through many styles, from traditional Celtic dance to modern folk/rock, mythic ballads, pop, and humor. The band has just released their sixth full-length CD, "Con Suite" Emerald Rose is well-known on the sci-fi/fantasy 'con circuit, from regular performances at Dragon*con in Atlanta, I*Con in NY, and Oscars party performances in Hollywood for Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" epic movies. Their music is featured in two genre documentaries, "Ringers: Lord of the Fans" by TheOneRing.net, and Brian Wiser's "Done the Impossible" about Joss Whedon's Firefly/Serenity phenomenon. "Con Suite" is a departure into "pure comedy" for the band, featuring songs written for and about sci-fi/fantasy fandom (among many other topics!) While there's a Celtic "feel" to some tracks, it's more in the "comedy pop" category -- closer to Weird Al or TMBG than The Chieftains. We hope you enjoy hearing it as much as we did creating it! Emerald Rose is based in North Georgia, and their website is http://www.emeraldrose.com.

This and the other CD I bought were waiting for me when I got home Thurs., and I took them to ReaderCon on Fri., to play in the Con Suite, natch. People went wild! I had to tape a label on the CD case with CDBaby's link because so many people were asking about you guys! I love "Vulcan Rubdown" (probably 'cus I love Trip and Reed on "Enterprise"!). "Solitary Motel" is a laugh riot!

This CD is awesome. I'm not even into scifi, but you don't need to be. The songs are very catching and hysterical.

My New Favorite CD!
author: Holly Page
Wow! I absolutely love this CD! Even the songs about the fandoms I'm not involved in are catchy and I sing along. Unfortunately they tend to get stuck in my head, and I get some strange looks as I'm singing about chocolate frogs, fairies, or the Firefly gang! I highly recommend this to anyone with a sense of humor!

A little of this and that

This CD is absolutely fantastic. Not everyone is going to enjoy EVERY track, as some are made for one genre or another, but it's guaranteed to have a good song or five for just about everyone. And yes - the fairies steal my keys ALL the time. I had the privilege of seeing Emerald Rose live at Dragon*Con, and hope to see them next year there, as well!
