notes
I started concentrating seriously on music when I turned seven and my piano teacher said, "Although Emma is a real sweet girl, her older brother has all the talent." Needless to say, I have been passionate about working on my music ever since. Even with performances in high school and in a Brazilian Percussion Band at FSU, I mainly gave my attention to my performance- dabbling in everything from cabaret to improv comedy. But I began writing my own music April of 2002 and began performing my own compositions outside the safety of my own home in June and have toured around central Florida monthly since then. In the middle of my central Florida tour, I visited California and back after cutting an EP with producer/sound engineer Dan Garcia. After playing everywhere from beachside coffee shops to the Florida Music Festival (where a reviewer described my gig as one of the "most impressive acts of the night"), I decided to try my hand at the West Coast and moved to Los Angeles in September 2004. The trip was great and California was lovely but here I am, back in sunny Orlando (for the time being, at least).
My most prominent influence is Sting. There is no close second in influences merely because Sting is too far up on my list. But my love for classic jazz greats- both performers and writers (Thelonious Monk, Ella Fitzgerald, Harry Connick, Jr., George Gershwin, Cole Porter) definitely adds its tone to my music. I also love great and unusual songwriters: Randy Newman, Paul Simon, Emily Loizeau, etc. In one friendly review, the writer says, "Her songs, imbued with a swaggering and conscious sexuality, are unmistakably feminine. Even when she's not singing about love and longing, it's still there, clasped between the chords and her warm vocals."

Emma
author: Matthew TardiffI was introduced to Emma's music a few years ago. She is, absolutely, a breath of fresh air. :-) and this latest collection of poetic melody is worth every cent.

author: Matthew GEmma, i shall say this is a breathe of fresh air for the music community! Emma has the voice of an Angel and her writing has a warm Loving/passionate vibe even when telling someone (i don't like you either)! I love this new venture into in Emma's arsenal of influences, and the way she portrays desire and fire thru her soul. great stuff get it and enjoy with a glass of Zinfendel
