notes
Best known as the most downloaded Indie pop/rock artist on MP3.com, Emily Richards is singer/songwriter based in Los Angeles. With over 3 million unique Internet downloads and 10 albums on her own label, Emily is now President of MP3tunes, the newest Michael Robertson Indie music site, (formerly MP3.com).
Shrugging her years of classical training, Emily's rock 'n roll lifestyle includes a lot of touring. In '04, Emily toured the entire year with Rock the Vote, using her music as a voice for freedom and education. Summer '03, Hard Rock Café & RADD supported her west regional tour that included drunk driving presentations to high schools and colleges. Emily was selected from 70,000 artists to headline the 50-city Club MP3.com Summer 2000 Tour sponsored by House of Blues. And in '96, Emily opened for Martina McBride during the Olympic Torch Across America celebration.
More important to Emily than all of her successes is her message. During the final leg of her MP3.com tour, Emily's 19-year-old sister, Annie, was killed by a drunk driver near her home in Utah. This tragedy reshaped Emily's music and led her to form nonprofit AWAKE Community (www.awakecommunity.org) with guitarist Jason Brock to focus on educating youth and spreading the "don't drink and drive" message, among other human issues.
Emily began studying piano at the age of five and started songwriting at eleven. She is an accomplished vocalist and modern dancer.

The piano playing stands out on this album. Strong interesting songs throughout. Great voice. Appetite whetted for listening to some of her other material.
Fantastic
author: CharlieThis is one of the very best CDs I have bought in the last months. (And I really buy a lot.) Emily's virtuosity on the piano is fantastic and she has got a beautiful voice. I love the exciting melodies and will definitely buy another of her CDs. There'd be a great gap in my collection of female singer-songwriters without "Valhalla".
Fabulous music! songs crafted from the heart with emotion and passion!
author: MarissaEmily's newest CD "Valhalla" is her best yet. This CD opens with the rather dark "Sanctify" and takes you on a journey that spans a myriad of emotions. My favorite tracks are Waiting, Surrender which is a must listen to, One More Try and Meet Me. You can see after listening to this why Emily Richards has recieved so much critical acclaim for her work. Brilliant songwriting and piano playing!. If you like Tori Amos or Sarah McLachlan this CD's for you!
Wonderful piano player and songwriter!
author: Karen LangefeldThe piano playing and the lyrics are wonderful! The best songs are Sanctify, Surrender, and Valhalla, but all are wonderful. This is my first Emily Richards cd and I will be buying more!
Excellent!
author: Mr. YakEmily is a prolific song writer, having produced around 7 or 8 CDs as an indie artist. Valhalla is her best to date. Surrender is a hit!
She's a beautiful lady with a beautiful voice
author: Stephen Roy / Montreal, QuebecI've purchased everything Emily has done to date, with no regrets whatsoever, she has a beautiful voice, and sings from her heart..
Great Album, amazing voice, great music
author: Ben ArnoldEmily Richards is a great artist. I originally discovered Emily's music on mp3.com in 1999, and had collected various songs. Now in 2003 I bought 4 albums including this one. I had not heard any of the songs on this album until recently. Great music, definitely a favourite in my collection now. There is a variety of styles on this album. My favourite track is ‘Sacrifice’, followed closely by all the other tracks!
