notes

Not a Barbie Doll, not a bra-burner, and not just another sweet girl with a guitar. Emily Lord is Heartland Rock: think Bob Seger meets Mary Chapin Carpenter. Inspired by the folk sounds of her New England home and the rock and roll of America's heartland, one recent review explained, "This is what [Melissa] Etheridge wishes she could do."

With RearView Mirror, Emily joined the ranks of songwriting legends Carole King, Ani Difranco, and Shawn Colvin by recording with producer-engineer Mark Hallman at the Congress House Studio in Austin, Texas. Songs from RearView Mirror earned two West Coast Songwriters Association Best Song Awards, commercial radio play, and inspired a San Francisco Bay Area production team to select her as their new music video company's featured artist.

More than just a songwriter, Emily's diverse background provides a wealth of experiences that inspire her intelligent lyrics. Emily released her first album of original music entitled Beginnings while attending the University of Notre Dame. Following college graduation, Emily certified as a US Army Airborne Paratrooper and served as a US Army Officer in Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and Texas, all while continuing to perform her music at USO shows for her fellow service members. After completing her service obligation, Emily moved to San Francisco where she currently works as a full-time singer-songwriter promoting her three critically acclaimed albums: Beginnings, RearView Mirror, and Brand New Day.

Reading the fact that mark Hallman produced this album, i directly orded all three albums. Knowing Mark's great work for Eliza and Iain, there could be no risk. I am very happy done so. Emily's music is great. All three albums are great.Listen to them all, order them all three, you won't regret it.

I have this CD in my car. Out of the 20 in here, it is now the most played. Emily has a great sound, and the lyrics are 'real', spirited, and easy to relate to. I can't wait for the new CD! I also happen to know the artist personally, and she is one exceptional woman, which makes the CD all that more meaningful, at least for me personally.
