  • This album grows on you
    author: Brian K

This album is great, it grew on me after a few listens and now i think it's awesome, definately a great band, that have there music down to where it's original and their own, not too much like anything I've heard before, worth the $10 for sure.

  • Come On, Feel The Noize
    author: Billy Matheny

In the grand tradition of The Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds," Big Star's "Radio City" and The Beatles' "Revolver" appears The Emergency's excellent debut LP, "How Can You Move?". Within you'll find 14 power pop classics tailor made for playing air guitar in front of your bedroom mirror. While an Emergency live show is a near religious experience, they may have outdone themselves here... You really ought to get your own.

  • YOU WILL SING ALONG! TRUST ME!
    author: John Lancia

The Emergency combines two of my favorite elements about American indie rock and British pop music... a strong distinct melody and a good catchy hook. This CD is all about the hooks folks. "All Over Town" is probably my favorite track on this CD right now. I dare you to listen to this song and NOT sing along... if you don't sing along to half these songs on this disc then you have no soul... you have no pulse, you're dead, you suck, and you're a boring person that no one wants to be around so stay in your room with your depressing boring music and die. Ok, anyway. BUY THIS CD NOW!! IT"S FUN! IT'S CATCHY!! AND GOD DAMN IT YOU WILL SING THE FUCK ALONG!!!!!! Trust me... I never sing along at shows... but last time I saw these nuckaz live, they had my jaded old ass singing along! BUY!! BUY!!! BUY IT!!!!

  • Excellent Debut CD !!
    author: John Miller

Being Rob Wehrle's cousin, I honestly bought this CD to help him out with his career. After listening to it, I was very impressed! My music tastes are mostly along the Classic Rock and 50's / 60's lines, and I could definitely see a strong connection with this style of music. I strongly recommend it for anyone who likes 'real' music. Great job, Rob & the band!!

  • I caught Bob Pollard humming Wedding March
    author: Steve Patchan

Playing the CD at work, everyone danced, and I work at a morgue. Song to song, the dead nodded their heads or pogoed, knowing full well that How Can You Move represented the closest thing to heaven than any of their sorry asses were getting.

  • Otis Redding, Green Day, Weezer, The Emergency
    author: Nathan Miller

In the Darkest, loneliest hours of the night I find myself constantly turning to the passion found in the music of Otis Redding, the vulnerability expressed in the music of Green Day, and the infectious pop-rock sensibility behind the music of Weezer. You may love or hate the artists mentioned above and that really doesn't matter because The Emergency's How Can You move has something for everyone. Think of the music that saves your life, and ask yourself why it does so. Whatever your answer is will be the reason you should buy this CD.

  • Turning heads live since their first show
    author: Charleston (WV) Daily Mail

Guitarist/songwriter Rob Wehrle, drummer Kevin Post and bassist Aaron Crothers have been turning heads live since their first show. The band's debut serves as a vehicle for Wehrle's tunes, which range from tightly arranged pop a la the Buzzcocks ("Morning Announcements"); exuberant, Who-styled rockers ("Church of the Chix Denomination") to the raucous and infectious "Channel U." The songs are filled with an impressive array of ideas and hooks. "Breakdown a Go Go" is a two-fisted pop-rocker in the spirit of the Jam. "Striped Shirt" and the acoustical "Matt Won't Come Back" tap the ethereal garden pop of bands like the Go Betweens. The band's limited vocal abilities mar some of the more straight-ahead pop tunes, and a little pruning would have made this a tighter release; still, Wehrle is a promising songwriter who has surrounded himself with some able blokes. -Michael Lipton

  • Even I Bought It
    author: Leo Nikora

I don't buy many CDs, but I bought this one. So should you!

  • Geez! Get this CD now... outstanding rock for listeners on the hip side of tow
    author: Todd Burge

If you can't wait for the next Emergency show, get their CD. They have captured a live feel in the studio and that's no easy task. Great tunes and great production to match.

  • Dude this record is so swee and awesome
    author: Mark Miller

This CD has been a constant in my stack o'CDs I carry with me everywhere. My favorite tracks are morning announcements,Matt won't come back and the wedding march. It gets you humming and tapping and shaking and all that good stuff. Although they call the CD short I think that it is longer then the average 10 to 12 track jobber folks are utting out these day and well worth the cash. The tracks will fly by in no time. The first time I listened to it I was so mesmerized that I missed the exit I needed to get my girlfriends house, and I got totally lost, but it was ok cause I had good tunes and she understood cause she als heard the CD and was mesmerized.

  • rock & roll; refreshingly upbeat and original
    author: Joseph Romanyak

How Can You Move draws on each individual listener's indecisiveness. Which song is my favorite? Church...?Pain...?Matt...? You'll have 4 different favorite songs every month and this will last for approximately 4 months. Anticipation for the sophomore builds.....

  • It's the best!
    author: Bekah

This cd is amazing. It is impossible to listen to it and not shake your butt.

  • Excellent power-pop
    author: Graffiti Magazine

Although self-produced, and subject to some minor shortcomings thereby, this still sounds better than about 90% of the current major-label product. No two songs are anywhere near alike (a definite plus). The standout track is "All Over Town," an emotional & sonic tour-de-force. The rest of the material displays influences ranging from the Who to Beatles-era McCartney to the Byrds to the Go Betweens to Husker Du - although, I hasten to add, these guys are not retro copycats, but creative originals. Highly recommended. -JW
