(About MP3 downloads at CD Baby)

Like Sting in a duet with a Carnatic violin and Tamil vocalist, seriously cool bass lines and exceptionally sweet guitar all grooving along to jazz, funk and ethnic rhythms on the drums. Emergence are the face of Acoustic Indo-Pop Fusion.

notes

Emergence is the face of Acoustic Indo-Pop. Born in the international township of Auroville, South India, "close to nature the music grows" http://www.myspace.com/emergencemusic

The songs sound like Sting in a duet with a Carnatic violin and Tamil vocalist, serriously cool bass lines and exceptionally sweet guitar.

The band consists of guitar, vocals (in English and Tamil), Carnatic violin, fretless and six-string bass, saxophone and drums. The songs are an embrace of cultures, emotions, people, the music is grooving, insightful, holding, moving, it gets you inside you, loving, heart-touching....you just have to listen...!!

The free DVD, "Nambikai" (Tamil for "faith"), offered with their album is directed by Marcia Juzga who has worked with The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Shakira, Ricky Martin, etc. Shot on location in South India, it gives an insight into their lives and how the music has come into being.

Krishna, from the U.K., is the guitarist and vocalist of Emergence. He's strongly influenced by jazz, folk, latin, classical and popular Indian music. This insightful songwriter draws from a rich experience of life and music in India over the last 14 years, performing and recording with various musicians.

Kirupa, hailing from Sri Lanka, is a Carnatic violinist and vocalist who sings in Tamil and English. He holds a degree in Carnatic music, and having lived in the international township of Auroville for the last ten years, has played with a wide diversity of musicians of different styles.
Kirupa performs and records regularly in India.

Mishko M'Ba is a highly acclaimed bass player and producer from France, having recorded and performed extensively with top musicians from around the world, such as Ray Charles, Barbara Hendrix, Didier Lockwood and Ziskakan among many others. He plays a unique musical style on both fretless and
six-string bass.

Lowell is a funk, jazz and rock drummer from Boston. He has spent the last years playing with various groups throughout the US from Boston to Kodiak Island, Alaska, opening for such musicians as Quiet Riot, Mike Patton, King Missile, Melt Banana, Lightning Bolt, etc. He is equally inspired by Carnatic thallams and working with musicians from completely different backgrounds.

Aside from playing, recording and writing their music they also run a sustainable farming community called solitude farm in Auroville - www.myspace.com/solitudefarm - where they grow their own food, have a forge, run an organic restaurant, build their own eco-buildings, make clothes, work with a diverse group of students and volunteers and do art and of course lots of music!
