(About MP3 downloads at CD Baby)

Vocals and acoustic guitar set the table for this project that touches on several musical styles and the Villaverde/Nabarrete combination invokes James Taylor and Carly Simon or maybe Don Henley and Natalie Imbruglia.

notes

Kelly Villaverde and Monika Nabarrete were both born and raised in Hawai'i and have been musical collaborators for over a decade. Together, their delivery is smooth and lyrical, well-suited to the songs on this CD.

They each have solo chances to shine, Nabarrete on the plaintive "Where Do We Go From Here" and Villaverde with the rocker, "High Places" among others. But the blending of their voices on "I Will Never Let You Fall", "When You're Away" and "It's All Right" truly define them and this project.

If you're a fan of James Taylor, Natalie Imbruglia, the Eagles, Lisa Loeb or Don Henley, you should give this a listen.

Great sound on CD and impressive sound live on stage. Either way two quality artists that leave you thinking as they say here in the islands "Hana Hou, Hana Hou, Hana Hou!" Kelly and Monika, Warmest Mahalo

Glad that I bought this CD. Greatly recommended, to keep it short*

  • "Take Two" is all about love!
    author: Betty Bookmyer

Take Two is all about LOVE! Love of yourself, of nature, of music, of your spouse, and the love of God! I don't need 500,000 other people to tell me they're gold!

  • A Hidden Gem -Great songwriting and awesome harmonizing
    author: James W/ Hawaii411.com

The first thing that impressed me was the songwriting -Villaverde was talented enough to go from adult contemporary to a little Jazzy R&B to a bit of country. The second thing that impressed me was the harmony between Villaverde and Nabarette. The CD is at close hand in the car and I will definitely get permission to use the "Song for Our Wedding" at my upcoming nuptials. This "hidden gem" should remain hidden no longer.

  • What Talent!

  • Another great cd!

Let's hear it for Take Two. Good mix of tunes. I especially liked High Places and Where Do We Go From Here. Somebody should send James Taylor a copy so he can hear Kelly's tribute to him. Easy listening and great originality.

  • Gotta Have It!
    author: Jenn Martin

Beautiful melodies and harmonies between Kelly and Monika paired with the instrumental talent of Kelly make Take Two a must-have. After listening only once, I had the melodies stuck in my head. After a couple of times, I was singing along. Definitely a good mix of music and moods.

  • You like James Taylor
    author: Jack Smith

If you like James Taylor, this is a must buy CD for you. The songs are great and the vocals are kickin. Jack in Kansas City.

  • Songs about life - clever lyrics shaped in beautiful melodies
    author: Barry K. Villaverde

Some songs have a way of taking you back into your own life's happenings and experiencing once more the emotions that go hand in hand. This CD is filled with them - pictures of life framed inside music the heart yearns to hear again and again. Especially fine, in my estimation, are Where Do We Go From Here, When You're Away, James and The Reed.

  • Take Two rates 5
    author: Grips

His best effort so far. Some haunting songs that I found singing after I took the CD out. I especially like "High Places" although it seems a little out of place on this album since it's got a definite rock feel. I'd like to see Emerald House do an all rock album with a bigger band.

  • Great mix of songs and great voices!
    author: Christie Villaverde
