notes

This CD explores the natural changes that occur between seasons with emphasis on spring. Songs are very catchy and come with a booklet of lyrics and suggested follow up activities designed to increase children's awareness of seasonal changes.

Jennifer from Midland, MI shares her experience with this CD and her preschool class of four year olds: "My son and the children in my classroom love the Spring Time CD. We listen to it continuously!...I also wanted to tell you that I love that you include the whole booklet you made for each CD. It really comes in handy when learning the words to your great songs and makes it fun for sharing with my assistant teachers. It helps me to really involve them in what is going on. We are using the Springtime CD to tie into our lesson plans. Thank you so much."

..."We have been singing your songs as well. The info you gave me was helpful. I specifically enjoyed the activity ideas and songs."
Kathy Swegels, kindergarten teacher in Northville

Who's the Boss?
Hi, I'm Evie Boss. I have been playing
guitar for 30+ years. I started writing
songs because if they were mine no one
would know if I messed up!!!!

I have been teaching Biology for 31 years and use my guitar occasionally in the classroom to introduce a concept. It all started when I wrote a funny song about the parts of an earthworm. I was surprised to discover that my former students would come back and be able to sing "Willy the Worm" two years later!! I have found music to be a wonderful teaching tool as well as creative outlet for many of my students.

I have been creating environmental programs for elementary schools and nature centers for 20 years using a variety of materials and songs. I have helped schools develop courtyards and grounds to encourage wildlife, started recycling programs, and raised orphan and injured animals.

My children's albums are always easy listening with a variety of styles from country, folk, pop, to Dr. Seuss-like poems. I pride myself on clear vocals so that the words are heard. Being the oldest of nine children and having lots of nieces and nephews, I have had lots of opportunities to take my songs on "test drives". They like them and remember them! I also provide a booklet with lyrics and suggested activities to promote multiple intelligence learning. I have been blessed to see extremely shy children and even autistic children respond to my music.

It took a bout with breast cancer (survivor since 1996) to give me the courage to begin sharing my inspirational music at various retreats in the midwest. My "Heart Songs" provide music which inspires, promotes healing, and encourages personal growth. In 2006 I had surgery for thyroid cancer and it motivated me to create a CD for cancer survivors (When Cancer Calls). All proceeds go to Gilda's club.

I am a member of the Science Songwriter's Association as well as a member of Environmental Songwriters.
I am honored to be listed in the 2006-2009 touring program directory of the Michigan Arts and Humanities Council. I not only perform for children but have recently begun doing programs for teachers which touch on topics such as stress management, using music in all disciplines, inexpensive hands-on activities, putting the fun back into the fundamentals of science, and the multiple intelligences approach.

My greatest wish for all is that we each always carry a song in our heart,
Evie
